Dipset's Never Ending Journey to Perfection Part II Back For the First Time

What's going on everyone? I've been wanting to do a progress thread on my cls for a while now, but haven't really had the time to until now. I first bought my 01 cls back in late december of 2009 with a bad transmission (automatic) and 163k miles. It was owned by a college student that his father bought new from the stealership. when i went to see it it was in rough shape, passenger fender had some dents, front bumper had a few cracks and it looked like the drivers side fender had been replaced, driver seat ripped, one tls rim. One good thing was that one of the headlight was replaced with an 03 model headlight, and he had a lot maintnece records and everything looked up to par there. He also told me that it had the trans replaced under warranty once already so he didnt wanna put any more money into it. With that being said i threw him an offer and he took it. I was now a proud new owner of an 01 cl-s.

In the beguining i wasn't gonna mod the cl and keep it for a beater until.... well you know what this site can do.

I dont have a lot of pic when i first got the car but here's some of the stuff i have done to it.

Got a 7th gen accord trans.
Got rid of sunroof visor
full 03 cls headlights
03 cls taillight
full 03 cls interior door panels/ silver center trim
03 cls key fob
03 side mirrors
03 navigation screen/bezel/ac console/ hazard button/ navigation drive (just gotta do the wiring)
06 base tl rims
OEM trunk tray
OEM rubber front mats
New passenger fender
New front bumper
K&N Air filter
08 TL-S rims
RL BBk painted 3G TL-S kinetic Blue Pearl
EBC slotted rotors front/ rear driled and slotted
EBC Red stuff brake pads

heres the stuff that i have but not installed yet.

2G TL lip kit
2G TL ATLP exhaust
switchback leds
shock sensor

Now for maintance
just replace two new coil packs
crank pulley/belt
power steering pump
replace a line in the steering rack
oil and filter changes

Current problems
some of the interior lights are out including all of the radio and half of the ac controls. i dont think its the bulbs, i tried checking the fuses and they look ok. any ideas?
air box makea a humming noise. i need a new airbox or cai.

Future plans
paint the full car Lexus white Pearl or some other nice looking color.
six speed swap
3.5/6 build.
drop and some new wheels.
keep racking up the miles. Currently at 200,xxx miles.

That's it for now guys, i know my car is still in beater status but hopefully soon it will look much better. Also i've only washed the car once since owning it, it's motivation to get that paint job. Sorry for the crappy pics they will get better.
OH, and big ups to Henry (anthracitecl) for helping me out a lot with parts/info also morgan (civicdrivr)for taking his car to the meets and keeping me inspired on doing work to the cl. Can't forget p.diddy for his inspiration on wha he did to his cl+ the O G's.

Im taking my time with that part since winter is right around the corner and i dont wanna slam the cl or put a cheap pice of crap suspension. I might go with koni yellows and some springs in the near future, and yeah i still have the TL's the 05 AT and the 08 TL-S 6MT.

I always loved white CL's, the black interior just completes the whole package.
RL calipers look nice on there with those rotors too.

I've seen about 4 more MD CL drivers/members on here...right on!

Thanx, I've only seen like 1 or 2 members that have a cl from MD, the others have either sold their car or parted out.

Thanx Tyler, I know I do need to update the TL thread, I've done quite a few things to it subtle but still something lol. Bad news though over the weekend someone backed into it and left. They left a few good size dents on the driver door and got away.

Also on the cl I noticed that someone hit it as well this time on the rear passenger quarter panel and cracked the taillight. People are just a mess these days. I'm thinking about putting some sort of camera inside the car for surveillance. Nothing to fancy maybe even one of those flip cameras, I'm just not sure if the battery will last throughout the night. Any ideas guys?

Here's a few pics two are when I hit the 200,000 mile club and one of the damage

That's not a bad idea but those are probably pricy and hard to install. I kinda don't wanna put to much money on an 11 year old car lol.

Yeah man tell me about it hit and runs and the worst. Gotta pay out of pocket.

Thanx bro, I actually went with the Z rotors. Unfortunately I'm having a small issue with squeaking, the right side squeaks like no tomorrow when applying the brakes.

Mine are nowhere near tolerable, in fact they are embarrassing they sound like a cat being tortured. I think it has something to do with the caliper on the passengers side since it was a tight squeeze getting the pads in compared to the drivers side. My guess is that something might be in the way of the pads.

My pads/rotors squealed like hell for about 1500 miles. Then they finally went silent. I called EBC about it, thinking that the pads were bad. But they said its normal.

Wow, I'm at almost 500 miles with them and they still squeal like a dying cat more on the right side than the left. I know people hate me when I'm coming to a stop at a red light. Someone suggested greasing the pins, but I don't think that would help.

Its not the pins. For some reason these pads take a very long time to fully bed in. Mine embarrassed the hell out of me every time I came to a stop. It was really bad coming home from work at 3 or 4am and waking everyone up with the brakes

Thanx for the info Morgan, I'm at 1100 miles with the new rl set up and they still squeak, not as bad so I guess there starting to bed in. Now I have a bigger problem for some reason my cls doesn't wanna start it sounds like crap.
It all started on Saturday I turned the car on, turned on the headlight, then the wipers all the sudden the car went dead. The battery is fairly new only about 6 month old. This is what its doing.

Whoops the video is private, I'm not to sure how to take it off private this is my first time uploading with my phone. lol

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn it to accessory?

I will check it later today, but will the main relay cause the cluster mileage not to light up? Also the interior light don't wanna turn on key fob won't open the doors/trunk.

So I went to try to start the car again and also to see if I hear the fuel pump prime, but nothing. I have a few relays that go under the the dash by the steering wheel column, so I changed it out but still nothing. I remember last time it did something similar I wiggled the positive battery terminal wire and it came on. Since then I cleaned everything that connects to the battery and even replaced the battery terminals. I'm starting to think that its the power wire that goes from the positive battery terminal to the fuse box. What do you guys think?
Here's a pic of the relay I replaced

Well, she's running again. It turned out to be the nasty piece of crap negative battery cable wire, the one that goes to the body of the car. It was so corroded.

Good to know because mine looks like seaweed so I'll prob change it soon. Hows your squeal going btw? I just put my RL bbk and it sounds fucking nasty when I brake! Dead cat would be an understatement. I hope it's just a new pad/rotor thing. I bought Rushs kit a couple weeks back but just installed it. Im honestly considering taking it back off. Btw I'm another MD CLS too!

I've put about 2200k miles on them and they still have a slight squeal here and there but nothing like a dying cat anymore. The kit that I had on the tl also would squeal. My guess is that its the pads

I do like the stopping power even though one time I was slightly going above the speed limit (125 mph) coasting with a 3g tls. I wanted to slow down because a slight turn was approaching so I pushed the brakes and it felt like the car wanted to slightly fish tail. Almost as if the rear breaks could not keep up with the fronts. I'm also on stock brake lines, stock suspension, so I don't know if that played a role or it was just the speed then the sudden braking.
