Clay/polish/wax photos of my NBP
I went over to my buddy's house today, who is a mobile detailer. We did my car together and I learned how to do some things for the first time...it was nice because he showed me the right way to do shit.
First we did a pressure wash and got all the crap off. Then we clayed the entire car which was cool because I had never done it. Was really simple. After that we went around the whole car with a double orbital (no pad friction on the paint with this particular machine) and used a paint leveler which helped to eliminate all of the scratches. Next we buffed a couple of areas that were worse than the rest with a similar product. The final step was a wax which I must say, I am very impressed with. All of his products are bought commercially, and he puts them in his own containers, so I was unsure of the brands used, but I can ask if anyone wants to know.
The pictures aren't the best, I'm exhausted as hell but I'll try and get some better ones tomorrow. Enjoy.

YesI know I missed a spot on this next one. This was before the wax went on.

that first pic makes it look pretty low....i like it. I miss seeing that thing shine. theres nothing like a mirror finish on a NBP

says "hello to my TLX".
looks sick. it would've gotten even shinier with some polish below the coats of wax.
it's worth spending a whole exhausting day. this sort of work pays off well.

looking good dude. nothing like getting it done right. i had mine done a month ago, (from my hookup) guy was telling me if you don't know what you're doing and press to hard buffing you can burn right through the clearcoat. there's so much damn pollen around in my area right now. i was so ashamed after washing my car friday and waking up saturday to it looking like it hadn't been washed in over a week. :vomit: but again, you're car is looking sweet! good stuff

Thanks a lot for all the comments guys....SD CL-S, I believe the paint leveler is a polish of sorts, he just didn't refer to it as a polish. That however, is really what made the paint start to shine....it looked waxed before we waxed it, lol.
Again guys, thanks for the comments, it was a lot of hard work but my car is lookin really nice for a 6 year old ride.

Hmmm. I got a small bottle of "cleaner wax" that came with my mothers clay bar that does sorta what you described it to do. It looks like it cleans the paint nicely but I used scratchx to really make the car shine. (Paste wax on top of that, of course)

Polishing isnt ment for the inexperienced, i suggest doing some deep research and get quality products before doing something you regret. head over to the wash and wax section on here and snoop around for Exceldetails and TOGWTs posts for some really good information.

California Gold® Carnauba Cleaner Wax
Carnauba Cleaner Wax is designed to be the one-step plan for paint preservation. Cleaner Wax is formulated to clean and protect in just one application. We use the same Brazilian #1 yellow carnauba that makes our Pure Carnauba Wax so special, and combined it with a light polish that will smooth minor flaws and make your paint snap. Carnauba Cleaner Wax is especially effective on fiberglass and gel coats. Available in long-lasting, easy-to-apply liquid or paste.
While I agree it may not be long lasting, it still does its job and it sort of sounds like what the guy I quoted did.
As for using scratchx for the whole car; I really liked the results actually. It did exactly the same thing as a polish I borrowed from my friend. Only reason I bought it was to experiment... and just didn't feel like going and buying a different polishing compound.

a polish mixed with a wax...kinda depeats the purpose dont ya think.
Keep doin what you want, im not telling you your wrong, but trust me Ive detailed, polished, fixed many bad paint jobs in my time. I know a cleaner wax is not going to remove swirls.
anyways, back to the topic. looking good John. glad to see ya takin care of my old baby.

Bobby (Stealth CL) did it, I bought the car off him. It's a tail light kit from rockblocker.com
My understanding is that it's a kit for the whole light and you apply it and just cut off the excess with an exacto knife or other sharp blade.

yes correct John.
I put painter tape on the bottom part that i didnt want to put the tint on (so it didnt sick), and put the tint, then cut away the extra with an Exacto knife. ..softly, you dont want to scratch the light.
again looks good John. I just detailed my sisters car today. and man was is a pain in the ass. but it came out great lke the CL did every time.

LOL, macro mode on...
Good thing is i'm sure a scratch on a taillight couldn't be as bad as a paint scratch, especially if the scratch was made with an exacto knife
Car still looks
so who's counting anyways. Your car is the one that made me decide i needed 3g TL wheels on my car(still in the works, gotta save up).
