at low levels it sounds really clean with the rest of the system. at high volumes, it's really apparent the box is incorrect. as I said, it will all be correct eventually. as with everything, it'll take time.

everything is stock and the sub amp is being supplied it's signal via the Bose factory amp, not the OEM h/u

Why's that? It doesn't get it's signal from a line-down converter, from the back speakers?

No, I'm curently using the speaker level inputs on the amp. It seems to work just fine for now.

So if you do it that way, you don't need the line-out?

By the way, car looks hot with tinted windows now.

solo baric?

From what I understand, the whole point of a solo baric is so you can install them without a box... Also, I have a 10W3, and its not a solo baric, I didn't know JL made a solo baric, correct me if I'm wrong.. I know that square kicker is, but you shouldn't need a box for it....

You can use this Kicker 3 different ways. Free-air (using the trunk as the box), sealed, or ported. In reading the specs on the sub, I found that, depending on the application used, the speaker has different limits.

im sorry i was being a little harsh before. you could use the trunk as a box but your not going to get the sound that you want out of it. i have 2 12 kicker l7s in a sealed box and ive heard them in a ported box and they sound twice as good. so my suggestion is to put them in a ported box and let them breath. they sound deeper and have much more capabilities, then when they are sealed

and no JL does not make solo-baric.

I'm actually thinking ported is the way I'll go when the box gets rebuilt...

Thanks!

I hope so because right now, it really only sounds good at low volumes. Turn it up and you almost lose the sound from the sub. Part of me wonders if it would sound even better if I bypassed the Bose EQ and go straight to the sub amp though.

You would replace the existing plastic piece with Plexiglass or wood, with a hole cut to fit the speaker...no box needed behind it if you like trunk space...and whats with this noob shit, I never heard of anything so gay in my life

we established that it could be used with the trunk as a box.

and the noob shit is something that every forum has, doesnt metter where you go. its like HS, the seniors picking on the freshman. its a ritual get used to it

tru, same with my kickers that are sealed, they freakin pound at low levels but when you turn them up they distort and dont sound that great. like theyre tryin to hit but just not able to. but my friend has almost the same setup but in a ported box and his go much louder and sound better at high volumes.

for the second gen'ers will a JL10W3 fit in the custom box in the gap in between the rear sets width wise? I am looking into doing this within the next week! I am stoked! I am also getting the Eclipse AVN-5495 navigation setup too. What do you all think? Opinions please?

would it be a big deal if part of the sub is slightly covered by part of the back of the chair? It doesn't seem like it would be an issue. Then again, I am not an ice man... And sorry, it is a 10" sub.

"ice man"?

It would probably be ok just so long as the woofer never touched the seat. If it did touch the seay in any way, it will sound like shit, garanteed.
