Closest dyno guess wins a prize

Going to dyno in a couple minutes. Gonna get 3 passes with the 19's & 2 or 3 with thee lightweight 17's to see if there is any hp difference. Plus I hope to do better than 218whp since I added an icebox.

Oh, and for the prize, closest gets

Wheels will not affect your HP

Wheels only affect your acceleration, those 17's have less rolling weight

So your saying a car with 4 x 30 pound wheels will have the same HP as the same car with 4 x 7 pound wheels?

Not true at all. It takes more torque to turn a heavy wheel than it does a lightweight wheel hense more horsepower is transfered to the rollers.

I hope you can show some differences, but I don't expect any on a dyno. The benefit of light weight wheels is from a standing start or possibly a low speed roll. Once moving the unsprung weight penalty caused by heavier tires is lost as you are up to speed. And since Dyno are taken, in sense, from a roll start in 3rd gear, I don't expect it to show up. Case in point. I had my light weight wheel on when I did my dyno and I still only put out 194HP at the wheels.

So go figure . . with a 3600lb car and putting out 194HP . . . I ran 14.7s . . .

Anyway, mu guess is 227HP.

Wow...just wow.

I went in with high hopes, and came away a little bummed.

213whp/200wtq with the 19's
218whp/206wtq with the 17's

Conditionds were ideal, 70* not too humid.

So obviously the heavier wheels DO make a difference, but my icebox didnt.

I'm gonna go to the track either this or next weekend and see if the stuff really made any difference. If I cant at least get a hundredth or two ( ) I'm gonna go back to stock and just worry about looking good, not going fast.

I never really felt a huge difference from the icebox, I know it feels faster with the Centerline' on vs. the stock wheels, so we'll see.

62*

One thing I noticed is that on my last dyno it was a .96 SAE correction factor, this time it was 1.00. What amount of diff would that make?

Also, we did 2 back to back runs with each set with no cool down. It lost 3whp/3wtq each time, so heat def affects power.

Remember a dyno is just an estimate of the horsepower your car is making. Unless you do a pre-install baseline dyno and then a post-intstall dyno following the install on the same day you aren't going to see the true gains. You need to equalized atmospheric conditions as well as engine coolant temps, etc.

I know, but same exact dyno, same operator (not that it really makes a diff), very similar conditions, so I tried to rule out as many variables as possible.

Also, I know that the track is the real test,so we'll see.

Did they have a fan on in the front of the car? If they didnt then theres no use for the icebox... Maybe thats another factor.

Why bother selling the Icebox? It's already installed might as well keep it.

To get back about $150? Didnt net any power, and never really noticed any significant engine note change.
