Time for a custom electric water pump/cooling setup.
I don't like how tight of a fit everything is either. Good thing for insulated heat sleeves so the hoses dont get torched! No need for custom electric water pump...

So radiator number two feel through. I'm currently hunting for number three. If it weren't for all the tubing/piping between the engine/radiator, I'd use the a two core from the 4cyl and just run the lower hose from the passeneger side over towards the engine water neck. I may just decide to go custom. There's two company's I plan on calling tomorrow: Griffin and Be Cool. Get a quote from both and see what happens.

Its time to start thinking about finally upgrading my fuel system: I've decided on RDX injectors (require no modding for j35a8), OBX fuel rails, high flow fuel filter, and for now a single high flow Walbro. Eventually (or maybe sooner than expected) ill be tossing in a fuel cell along with 2 inline efi pumps.

The exhaust will be full 3" all the way back. Anyone have any ideas on running 3" duals as far as mufflers and tips...or maybe no mufflers at all!

Because I'm planning on tuning the engine myself, I've decided to start some extensive research. I've always been naturally curious and ambitious when it comes to learning the process/methods involved but its requirement should make it an easy experience. This in conjunction with my current experience with engine management and I think I'll be just fine. If this plan falls through, I'll buy that $300 tuning chip off eBay. No worries, eBay is ever trustworthy.

Looks great so far! Are you running the hot side i/c plumbing across the bottom of the car into a passenger side inlet? Would think it would be easier to just run a same side inlet/outlet i/c on the driver's side or does room not permit?

I was the one who had an issue with griffon. Their products are good quality but their customer service is awful. Hope you don't have an issue because they won't help resolve it.

Griffon supposedly already had the dimensions and made a few in the past. They sent me a radiator that did not fit and would not accept a return. I even sent them a new generic cl radiator for dimensions after. They said it would be too much work to modify and would have to make a new one.

They refused to make a new one unless I paid again for 2 radiators. I told them I did not want to do that. Could they please just refund me and send back my oem radiator I paid for.

They refused to refund me. I then said fine then send me back the 2 radiators then because I paid for both. They did not send me anything back and stopped replying to excelerates and my emails.

In the end excelerate gave me a partial refund, but we both got screwed on this deal. Only one who didn't was griffon.

Total scumbag company

On a side note I am curious why the flex pipes in those locations? Never seen them put there before. Is that because the turbo is going to be mounted to frame instead of the motor?

The brace that holds the turbo is bolted to the transmission. Reason I put the flex tubes here is because it will help make everything last longer. Puts less stress on the tubes when they heat up and try to move around a little bit. There are also vibrations due to him having 2 solid steel mounts with no urethane and we don't need these cracking since it is his daily driver.

I did the 3" to dual 3" with no mufflers on my Accord for a week... then put on dual 3" Vibrant Street power mufflers. My exhaust also consist of RV6 V3 PCDs and XLR8 V2 J-Pipe.

Before Mufflers...

Pull with no mufflers

Pull with Mufflers

Driving around with mufflers

Thanks for the videos Atlas but this isn't a comparison that would help me much. This is because the turbo muffles most of the note coming out through the downpipe. I was more or less wondering how much it (turbo) would decrease sound even without mufflers/resonators.

However, I never was too much on the whole 4&6 cyl raspiness sound from an opened exhaust system but I DO love loud pipes. :-) My 07 Yamaha R1 is running duals with no mufflers and gutted cat-con and let me tell you SON- when that motor hits those high angled cam lobes at 13,500rpms, she'll make a sucker out of any man!

Alot of people keep mentioning the transmission and I feel like it may be for the wrong reason. Remember that the j35a8 auto is a completely different unit than from those used on the 99-06 CL and TL. This one is taken from the 05-08 RL which was a new design built to handle much more power from the RL's 300hp motor. It's physically larger than the (by roughly 20-30% maybe) previous year models and I haven't heard too many issues with them as I do the others as well.

What I do fear is that the transmission will be completely incapable of applying any increased amount of power to the ground without excessive wheel spin because I've been told that the 07-08 TL-S autos are not limited slip diff. Initially, whenever I performed the swap, I was not planning on going this far with the build and actually intended on stopping after the TL-S motor was installed. This was of course the ONLY reason a kept the auto instead of installing the 6-speed. Unless the trans won't allow me to effectively enjoy the turbo that's being added, I will keep it. But if it does (which it probably will) affect me from getting the Happy Factor, things will quickly change and I'll be searching for a good deal on a 6MT.

That being said: due to the weight of the car, its overall purpose as a daily driver (yup), and being limited by traction...the power will be set to somewhere in between 450-500hp. Maybe even less. The turbo is capable of supporting 800+HP based on what I've read and seen. I've seen as high as 863hp so its plenty capable. The motor, the tranny and the car however....

Anyhow, I'm becoming very anxious as the build approaches its final phases. Matt and I decided to go single out at 3" with no mufflers. I can't wait to see those pictures as well. Matt has been a busy dude with his own car, work, family and as I mentioned earlier...I'm glad he chose to work on the car. And this goes for anyone else who gets the pleasure of obtaining both his workmanship on their car and being able to see his talent in progress. Keep it up Matt, great job.

I don't doubt it will as this is one clean ass build... inspiring actually! As much as I wanted to go turbo, I couldn't as it is my daily and there really isn't any reputable local tuner shops that would take the project on smh. I purchased my s/c kit prior to looking for a decent shop. Long story short - after many headaches with tuning/etc, took me damn near six to seven months before I found a guy that knew what the heck he was doing. So good - we're taking it to the next level with a FMIC & custom pulley (10psi) and a couple of other goodies. At this point, the amount of money I've invested to date could have justified a custom turbo kit, but, I wouldn't change it for the world. The sound of the belt whine is ADDICTIVE!

Anywho, sorry to hi-jack your thread. Keeping doing what you do as it is definitely awesome work mate!

I haven't read every post so bare with me but what are you going to use to tune it? A guy over on the j32 forum made a little over 700whp on race gas with a bone stock J32A2 longblock. I'm curious to see what type of numbers you put down. I like the idea of sticking with the auto in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

The attention to detail on the wiring alone was a nice read, let alone the swap details. Looks great!

Sound like a fun ride and good to hear you were able to work out all the kinks. Im assuming you have the CT supercharger right? The only thing I didnt like about it was how undersized it was for the j32....oh, and also the nearly $4000 price tag it carried for the small gain of 50hp. Id say be very careful with raising the boost too much as it will soon reach a point where it almost becomes counterproductive because of the extremely high IATs. In order to keep things under control, you should consider adding nitrous ONLY as a means of reducing IATs to protect your pistons from becoming jelly.

Or you could just shell out another several thousand dollars for the m90 and do it all over again.

Fox, Im hurt that you would make such a post in my thread about not reading my thread.

Tuning will be done using my iphone and a new app called "Tune dat shit!" via bluetooth connection. Payed $4.50 for it so it better do the job! Stay tuned for an update on this...

I dont think it can really compare since its 4 cylinders... but my old hatch was quieter at idle and cruising than my friends hatch... my downpipe was straight down and about 14" total in length. He had a full 3" exhaust straight pipe. But with heavy load mine was louder. Setups were very similar except turbo... i had a 6262 and he had a ebay "t70". Here was my exhaust.... i mean downpipe.

Yup, I'm on the CTSC kit. I'm current at 6psi w/ HPB and it runs just fine with no probs. South FL Pulley made the custom pulley which is expected to net 10psi, but with the 1 to 2 psi loss due to the FMIC (which should keep IAT down), we'll be looking at 7 to 8lbs maybe? Won't know until we get it all installed and on the dyno for results.

On a side note, the weather has been lower then normal in the morning here (high 40s) and this thing has been breaking traction at WOT on 2nd gear.

Fun ride indeed; I love my sleeper!

Sleeper ?

A sleeper is a car that atleast looks stock and should sound close to stock as possible with normal daily driving.

Think about it.
Your car don't look stock, and I'm sure it don't sound like it's stock either.

sleeper, no.

A modified car is what you have there.

As far as my statement on it being a sleeper -

Aside from 19's w/ slotted/drilled rotors; in regards to performance, you'd never know it moves as quick as it does.

Once the FMIC get's installed, then it's a different story.

I have been reading, just not every single post lol. Mostly to just laugh at the whole sleeper thing haha.

Bring it!! I'll be well over 500whp and torque too. Not a bone in my body will be afraid to blow up a long block that costs less than $500, so just remember I'll be spraying the shit out of it lmao!!!

Excellent point my friend. The tables have turned.

Ah yes, the most beautiful woman I know has attracted the souls and hearts of many. Agreed.....

BUT, how dare you insult the other lady! Just because shes been around the block a few times (literally, she has 330k miles) doesnt mean she still cant put a smile on my face.
Gawd I hope that was a typo...you just might get the same wrath I will bestow upon Fox.

.
This is the sh!t talking I like to hear.
But in all honesty you can have 1000hp if you can't get it to the ground then the power don't mean anything.
I would be down for a couple runs. I got a kit I can slap on at anytime.

on a side note, If you are going to keep throwing stupid little digs hear and there,I can do the same and don't think I wont.I'm a pretty passive guy but I CAN lay it on as thick as you want.
I'm just being easy with my return digs.
I like this site and don't want to trash it.

You two are funny lol. Will let the cars do the talking eventually yungone. I'm pretty confident once my car is finished I'll drag that boosted and swapped accord down the 1320 still hahahaha!!!

Nothing wrong with a little good old fashion shit talking. It makes things fun before the race happens lol. I never go personal with anyone but that's just my opinion..

That's true but won't happen while I'm at the track! I always come prepared with multiple bottles to swap out!

This is true but the monstrous torque nitrous gives is incomparable to anything else. I have about 7 j-series to have some fun with if I ever decide to juice again.

I'm with ya... Taking the car in next Friday to begin fabricating piping for the FMIC and installating all of this other stuff.

As you mentioned prior, depending on IATs during runs, it's possible I may turn to a Co2/Nitrous intercooler fogger/spraying kit to prevent long term issues; but that's all contingent on results of next weekend.
