Yungone501's- Excessive infatuation with the J-series

I can relate Rich. With kids, you pounce on every opportunity you can...which could be once every few months if the moons don't align jussssssst right. Lol
Btw, I may be throwing in your cams for some 12psi synergy. Straight wicked....the way it should be.
Although that's a good deal, I'd never pay that much for coilovers. I'm eyeballing a few sets of F&F's for around $400....and that's new. To hell with ride quality. She's built for fun.
Hard to say no to this look bud:

I decided I would just make the overflow myself instead. So I just picked up some steel plating and angled steel. It's 1/16" thick so it will add a challenge in not burning through it BUT my welder is monstrous 90A full duty so I'm sure it will be fine, lol. Other than that, this will be my first job that involves making the seams 100% leak free but I've gained a steady hand since I've started fabbing/welding. In fact, id say I'm currently neck and neck with Hickams weld quality...IMO of course. Some just maaaaaay disagree slightly.

Don't hate on Function Form Coils . I purchased mine used with unknown mileage on them , I've driven them 30k and the only thing is they are a little soft . I'd buy them again , and I plan on it for my silver car .

I also wanted to let everyone know that I have a j32a2 fully machined, fresh and ready to go block for sale that's been bored from 89mm to a 90mm making it a j37. It's also been dowel pinned to strengthen and protect the cylinders from walk under high load/stress. I've spent over $1300 and asking $500 plus shipping. PM me for any further details and info.

Memo was on the shipping label top right corner, HP was probably for the genesis uncalibrated. RL is 215whp tops with Sh- awd

Today was officially the beginning of my j37 build. This will be replacing the j35a8 and you guys should see some pretty steady progress over the next few 1-2 months. I will be using the later generation MDX block and heads which means I will have to have custom cams made/ground. One spec cam was ordered today from Acura...a whopping $175. This is because they use a 2-arm rocker design and the splined cam lobes cannot be reground which explains why new cams must be made...something thats never been done before on a true j37. I intend on sleeving it and running 91mm bores with custom pistons. It will be built solely for running 20psi+.
In the mean time, the j35a8 will be subjected to 14psi. I will move up in increments of 2psi. So first 12psi and then 14psi. This is to aid in the tuning process and make sure detonation isnt seen during the increase in boost.
Lets play.
***This means that my aftermarket cams and j32a2 fully ported and polished heads will be sold***

Last time I did that, my other engine wasn't finished yet and when the TL's motor blew, I had nothing to play with for a month or two. That's the whole reason I bought this Accord...she was a rebound. And for once, a rebound that actually worked out for the better. My purchasing of the Accord is what stopped the 3.5 build dead in its tracks. Then if blow the j35a8 before the j37 is complete, I may not finish it either....damn I hate having ADD!
Hey Rich, want to buy any cams?

Lmao, I meant your cams.
I did....but then the convo strangely ended with chicken fajitas?
Ok, made some progress today on the Super Beast 3.7 build:
Few days back, I made several calls to a different places to have 91mm sleeves produced for the build. Only ONE of them actually followed through with their homework and got back in touch with me. Unsurprisingly enough, that was Darton. Because this was something they had never produced before (even a stock j37 90mm sleeve), there were no specs or blueprints for their engineers to build from. In other words, I'm the first ever to get this done. This also means, I will officially hold the title for "largest j-series ever to be boosted" and take pride in that....even if it is by only 1mm. Ha
So anyways, Darton ended up saying that there's only one way for these specs to be taken, and that's by having the block examined by an experienced machinist who specializes in this sort of thing. I was then referred to a place nearby Dartons manufacturing location in Cali that did their R&D and machine work (not to mention all of HPD's builds). So I called the guy and discussed everything I wanted to do. He gave some great advice on what to do as well as accepted the job. Block will be shipped within the next few days.
Once he blueprints the sleeves, Darton can make them. Process should take between 3-5 weeks based off of him. Gives me enough time to have the pistons made and shipped out. Hopefully the sleeved block and the custom pistons will arrive back around the same time.
Next step, find someone to machine the cam blanks of which will probably be sent off to Bisi for a grind based off of the 2011 MDX camshaft lobe profiles. Of course additional lift/duration will be added. Particularly more duration at the exhaust close to aid in boost support.
Lastly, I will be adding threaded bungs for each individual exhaust port so EGT sensors can monitor each of the six cylinders. Because so much time and money is going into this build, I taking safety to the extreme on this one. Also, due to the head being a single exit port for the exhaust, gauging the precise location for each sensor will be both very critical not to mention difficult. I'm currently considering several aviation EGT monitoring systems. This is because their quality and accuracy. They're much more expensive but well worth it in the end.
Btw, pictures as soon as I can do two things- take some and upgrade my maxed out 10 gig photobucket account!

O, not interested in those back.
I don't think I will explore any other cam options either at the time.
The 08 type s cams seam to do fine for now. I would be interested in trying swapping in some larger rollers on the rockers though.
Don't go in debt because of your ADD.
What do you do for work ?
Can I get a job ?
I need this kind of money

I'm an automotive electrical technician. I am blessed by the grace of God with the extra funds to do the things in life I've never been able to do thanks to the passion I carry with cars. When my wife tells me to get my head out of cars, I tell her that allowing me to build these sorts of things helps me build my skills which ultimately leads to more money in the bank....that generally becomes the end of that convo without further response.
Can you get a job? Only if you dyno your 3.7 and post it.
I'm don't remember the exact specs of them but maybe Rich could read them off and save me the time. Lol

I think jim is a man of few words.
Over the time I've been on here I've only witnessed a handful of posts.
If I can find a dyno close to me I would. The closest I know of is over 1hr away and I don't want to drive that far risking a ticket for being so loud.
The cam specs I was giving was : .434 .432 lift .245 .232 dur @ 50
I'll have to go threw my mails though for some reason I thought dur was 252 on both.

There you are young man!
I was never updated about the whole panic-mode situation that occurred yesterday. What was the issue?
Alzheimer's affects 1 out 500 elderly people. You could possibly be the first sub-40 year old to be infected....which means we could make mad profit to build our motors.

Rawr.
We took it out yesterday evening to play with the base map; running super rich (as you recommended) in which we'll work our way backwards from there sometime today weather permitting. I didn't get on it, but the gauge read 7 to 8 psi during a couple of street pulls (up to 4k rpm as I am playing it safe - for now lol). I wonder how much pressure is lost up top because of the FMIC & piping?
One a side note, I believe my idle control valve is a taking a dump since the car has been sitting for a while? It'll start revving on it's own between 700 to 1.5k... up & down, up & down. It goes away when I tap on the accelerator, but eventually returns
Libert's meth kit gets here on Monday. So until that's installed & wired up, I'm holding off with dyno tuning.
