and you guys think our paint problem is bad...
I just washed my dads 2 month old Z with less than 2000 miles on it and the front bumper has 3 paint chips
one on the huge wall like part of the bumper and 1 each on both sides where its flat and meets the headlamps.
I think at this rate its going to have more chips than a casino before she turns 1 years old
Everyone keeps complaining about "paint quality" well this is not paint quality. its soft material. the Z is just one soft ass car. probably to keep the weight to a minimum and cost. our cl has soft bumpers and sheet metal too but not as soft as nissians...

I've heard a lot of bad things about Nissan's paint. A lot of people were having problems with the Maxima's paint too. B4 I got the CL i was going to get a 6 spd Maxima in gray luster, it's kinda like the anthracite, but I read about so many problems with that color and other dark colors that I didn't even want it any more.
sidemarker: man if i was your dad and paid 35+ grand for the Z I'd throw a royal b!tch fit at the dealer. I'd make them repaint it. If they refuse keep calling Nissan until they agree to repaint it. They screwed your dad's car make them correct it
Re: and you guys think our paint problem is bad...
Nissan has had bad paint quality since 1995. His bumper by 15k of miles will look like a car that has 100k guranteed. My Maxima was the same way. That is why people actually made a site for people to complain about Nissan paint.
http://www.nissanpaint.com/
The rest of the car in quality as well will show after time. People may think its built well, but they are not.

I love having my StoneGuard, now if I can just get the rest of the car covered in it I will be set.
Too bad about the Z, maybe those $1000 paint protection packages the dealerships offer are worthwhile. :P

you cant really avoid stone chips unless you drive your car everywhere going 5mph.... just have to live with it.. and try to prevent them.. by not driving to close behind other cars.. especially trucks.. etc etc.. bra helps.. but looks ugly.. clear bra is another option..
Whats even weirder is that when you move up from nissan to infiniti, the paint quality is 90% better. I got a QX4 and i recently was stuck behind a dump truck with loose dirt. A couple of small rocks hit my truck and one cracked the windshield and the other hit the hood. When i got home, I inspected the damage and believe it or not , I had a little scar that wasn't bad and was buffed out. No metal showing or nothing and my truck is black. When the same inncident happened to me in my CLS, the paint came off and showed the primer surface (grey) and the paint chipped to the point that it started to peel over time.
