Is the WRX auto a dog?

Just curious b/c a guy I know has a silver WRX wagon and claims it's just as fast as the 5-spd WRX to HIM ... said he test drove both at the dealership.

auto, which means he has less power to the wheels and cant launch better than 2500 rpm, so its not in boost range when it launches. i would say much slower than a well launched stick wrx.

no.i do not think so..
the shift response will not be as quick as manual..and some power loss too
besides in the market..the only auto-manual (semi auto and manual) i think can compete to the manual tranny will be the ferrari F-1 gear box....the one has two pedals at the steering coloum..
