The exhaust on the CL is very efficient. You're not going to get any hp gains from exhaust mods (2-5hp for cat back). Muffler mods are just for sound.

Put headers on it, and you're done with the exhaust

A pipe is a pipe is a pipe.

the cl-s is already free flowing, if it is for looks/sound then thats that.
u will not gain any hp
but the bumper cut on the cl will not match well to tips of a 05 tl

Thanks for the quick reply, I figured that it may not make a difference but i wanted to ask scene i had access to the mufflers.

I have headers and the intake but i was just toying with the idea of Tl mufflers
maybe I'll do the delete on the middy

dont delete the mid-muffler. it will make it sound raspy, it only works good on the TL. if your gonna do that then replace the mid-muffler with a aftermarket resonator. look for the mid-muffler thread, its been talked about.

there would be gains from mufflers only but not much. a cat back would yield more gains, but still not much either.

what i would really like is that setup that one of the 2nd gen TL guys has... a true dual exhaust. well he used a magnaflow res for a cat. than 2 1/4" all the way back to, i think comptech's.
that was a sweet setup

Mufflers or a Resonator? I want just a deep sound, as almost all of the muffs were a tad too loud, I want to look stock and sound semi-stock.

Hmmm..what are you going with?

comptech mufflers or aftermarket resonator to replace your mid-muffler would be what you looking for.

^ Right? Comptech mufflers are a bit too much for me though..$600 for mufflers sounds a bit insane to me. I just think my best bet would be running by an exhaust shop and seeing if the could somehow make a res fit that wouldn't scrape?

^ Elaborate please.....

I was thinking of going with Magnaflows and having a shop bend some pipe for me and then weld a "tip" on so that it can bolted on or off. Like a custom axel back that can removed without being cut. Hope I explained myself lol

I had Megan headers, RT cat, 2.5" piping to tornado silencer (not sure if I named it right, and it didn't silence anything, lol), to straight pipes (then switched to Magnaflows cuz the pipes were too loud.)

I have vids in the photo section.

Ah nice...

Do you think just replacing the mid-muffler with a nicer resonator would do the job for a nice but subtle tone change?

If not, I'm just going to say screw it and save up for comptechs..

It really depends on what you get. I had to play around a bit to get the setup I wanted.

Honestly, changing anything from the mid to the rear is going to change the tone of the exhaust.

i know what setup ur talkin bout, it isnt quite true dual exhaust because tru dual exhaust would mean you had pipes from each header bank all the way back to the mufflers. No real benefit on our cars. Im not sure if you saw my exhaust at the dyno meet but its 2.5 all the way back (no cat) 2.5 str8 thru maganflow resonator to the Y pipe then the Y pipe is 2.25 along with some str8 thru 2.5 magnaflow mufflers. It made a very good amount on whp on my car
