My advice is get a Magellan under $1K

For my money, Magellan 500/700 units are a much better deal than trying to get a built-in system.. Half the price, no installation and you can always switch it to another car when you need it. I've been using one for a few months and have been very happy with it.. The 700 which is comparable to Acura Nav in features (voice prompts, pretty large screen, hard drive covering continental US/Canada so you never have to load new maps etc.) goes for $900 to $1000.
