Traction is much better on the auto... plus this car has 19's and is much heavier than mine - there is a big difference just due to that.

you 6mt boys always say that cause you cant launch your cars...how can the car with traction to both wheels have less than the one turning one...

allmotor_2000 03-06-2005 10:07 PM

It's the torque convertor that is helping the auto... not the lack of an LSD.

so why cant the slipping of the clutch be used like a torque convertor and utilize the advantage of 2wd
...i wonder if these guys are preloading the clutch before they launch ,and if they slip it any?

darrinb 03-06-2005 10:29 PM

i doubt u can match your 1.9 60' in a 6 speed typeR

i think i can better it

allmotor_2000 03-06-2005 10:36 PM

Because these are daily-drivers... and I don't want to ruin my clutch. Also... clutches work differently than torque-convertors... if you continue slipping and heating it up... it gives out.

darrinb 03-06-2005 10:36 PM

i know ram can drive and i think he went 1.9 on slicks

allmotor_2000 03-06-2005 10:38 PM

I'll give you $1000 if you can do a 1.90 60-foot on a 6-speed CL-S with regular (same as yours) tires.

we've already seen an auto smoke both tires, and i've experienced it at the strip. anyone care to explain that?

:werd:

I'm confused. Never understood that. I light them both up each time at the strip.

mattg 03-06-2005 11:07 PM

that's why the autos get out so good. we do have some sort of limited slip.

how the hell could i pull a 2.0 w/ one tire fire? :jesuslol:

i promise you i smoke one tire 99% of the time ...id say what youre seeing happen is the power transfering for one tire and then to the other and not really both at once

so now the search for a powerful enough 6mt to get the job done is on...anyone with I/H + in a 6mt in the central florida region?

mattg 03-07-2005 12:06 AM

i don't think so.

feel free to refer to sgmotoring's video of him burning both tires off at the same time.

2 big black marks don't lie.

mrsteve 03-07-2005 12:07 AM

Every time I leave the track I pull out of the driveway of the track. Stop the car on the side street. VSA off, and just floor it WOT to get all the melted rubber, etc off the tires. I ALWAYS leave tire marks from both tires on the pavement.

mattg 03-07-2005 12:09 AM

i'm always peeling VHT off of both fenders. :D

I learned the hard way the first time and didn't try to do it until the next afternoon. Pain in the ass. Best to do it while it is still hot :toocool:

ghost_masterCL 03-07-2005 02:20 AM

well, now that you all have figured out the proper sizing of a turbo for the 3.2, what about us old school 3.0's? I'll be coming into a pretty decent sum of money soon, so I'd like to start gathering info.

Blue: what size turbo do tyou think the J30 should use? Same? smaller? bigger? different altogether? or do you have any idea since you haven't worked with a J30... or have you?

power3dfx 03-07-2005 04:13 AM

i was lucky enough to see the car in person, its pretty damn nice. allmotor did a great job with the install, cleaner looking than his own!
very impressive stereo setup too. we very briefly took the time to check it out, but the screens are really nice and "i aint mad at cha" never sounded so good!
props to the owner of this car, its very nice! and with the turbine, definately a sick complete package.

Once again the auto/turbo's tranny (Logan's) is simalar to mine. I did have kevlar clutches at one point and after another rebuilt it got carbon/graphite clutches which are a much stronger and tougher set. As for the LSD, my previous tranny did not have it. It was always the passenger tire burn out. After the rebuilt, even though it may not be a true LSD, it now will light up both tires and leave equal strips of rubber. At the track my auto against an 5-6s is preferable until they out-power my car Ex: Camaro-SS(6sp) VS TL-S. Now it will be a little harder for the competition 10 lbs I/C boost VS. 5 lbs non-I/C.

dude theres no reason to get upset...im not trying to hurt anyones feelings or sound better or what ever it is you think...i do have over 400 passes in this car...maybe youve been more, but if so,not lately, all i mean by that is ...id like to see more numbers from you...from both your turbo vehicals...i was very disapointed steve never made it out in his..i hope this doesnt happen to you...anyway...just cause i think i can cut a better 60' than most people do (in the 6mt),should nt bother you...thats all...
Steve

RaviNJCLs 03-07-2005 02:47 PM

Good job Ram.... . I wish I had the cash for one of those.

allmotor_2000 03-07-2005 03:28 PM

I'm not upset... I don't really care actually - just thought it was a ridiculous statement coming from you.

In terms of tracking my car... I probably won't for several reasons.. primarily that this is my daily-driver and the clutch situation is not good for this car. I do get carried away sometimes with my car... and trying to control that urge. Hence I never really pursued increasing boost etc. I could quite easily make a 500whp CL-S, but don't want that right now. At the same time, running 11's is quite achievable with the risk of seriously breaking something. I'd rather spend the money on my house... which I am :D

The current tires P Zero Nero and are 19-235-35s, and the is dropped as you could see back in my in sig earlier in the post via H&R Race springs, so about 2" up front and I think 1.75" in back, but the rake is cmpletely gone due to trunk weight.

power3dfx: What's up? Glad you got to take a look and a listen to it! The cars got 5 screens and the LCD in the trunk is great for tailgaing. I miss it and hope to be driving her soon
