Women turning wrenches

It use to be that only men were tempted to fix their own cars, but recent survey results from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association indicate that the percentage of women do-it-yourselfers (DIY) is growing quickly. The survey says that women have assumed responsibility for vehicle maintenance in one-third of all DIY households. The “Do-it-Yourself or Do-it-for-Me” survey showed that, from 1994 to 2000, the percentage of total US households performing light, medium or heavy-duty maintenance has remained constant, despite perceptions about a shrinking DIY market. Since 1994, the percentage of DIY households with female DIY has increased from 27 percent to 34 percent. Males still comprise the remaining 66 percent of the DIY market. The report profiles the typical female DIY as 46 years old, married, attended college and employed full time. Her household income is $52,100, with two family vehicles.

Okay and...?

The average 46-year-old American white female is fat and nasty too. It's not like hot young women are working on our cars in the Acura service department.... or are you just not telling us about this, acura_service, and keeping them all to yourself?
