Windshield Nicks and Pits

Have you guys noticed any nics and chips on your front windsheild? This week i noticed, when the sun is shining, alot of little pits and stuff all over my front windsheild, it looks like a drove through pebbles or something, no marks on my paint finish though, just the windsheild. My CLS is and year and 2 months old with 16k miles on it, is this normal for a windshield??????

Yup had that problem too. Got a crack in my windshield, had it replaced with PPG glass and I haven't had the problem since.

I've got a few tiny tiny nicks in my windshield. If you do alot of highway driving and a rock gets thrown at your windshield at high speeds, you're probably going to get a dint. On my 92 Legend, a rock got thrown up on the interstate and it actually caused the glass to spider slightly.

This is caused by sand and grit from the road. No one seems to be able answer how to stop it. Some say its from this stuff hitting the windshield while driving. I (my opinion) feel it may be caused when you first turn on your windshield wipers and this junk is on your glass and wipers and gets ground across the windshield. You may be able to help it a little with a good glass polish, but basically it'll get worse as time goes by. A new windshield is the only cure I know of.

Now my concern is that if i get a new windshield, will it have the UV filtering that the OEM windsheild has?

The more important concern with a new windshield is to have it done right so it doesn't leak like a freaking sieve!
