Will I rub with 235/40/18 on 18x7.5 42 offset?

Damn, I wanna get 235/40/18 but my wheels are 18x7.5 with a 42 offset. from what I've read these will probably rub. I'm thinking about getting the kuhmo 712s. I currently have stock suspension but plan on lowering the ride with CT, do you guys think I'll rub?

PM kritikadeo.

He has ADR Reaction 18x7.5+42 on 235/40/18 Sumitomo HTR+ All-Seasons

He's just lowered his ride with Tiens with camber kits and had the rear fenders rolled.

I had the same size, & same rim config & rubbed on big dips & bumps or when people were in the car in the back with a comptech drop. Was fine when it wasn't lowered.

Im on an eibach drop 18x7.5 45 offset and i rub. I think you will rub depending on the drop. THe offset of 42 is alittle low so...you might not on a comptech drop

Thanks. I don't plan on rolling my fenders thats why I ask. I wouldn't mind 225/45/18 but there aren't many options for this. 225/40/18 without a drop would make the gap unbearable. I gotta think this through.

Dude you still deciding on tires? I ended up going with the 225/45-18 setup on the 18x7.5 rims (+48 offset). I am hoping it wont rub when I do a comptech drop and Tokico HP shocks in the near future. The more I read on this forum the harder it is to make a decision, gotta love it.

With 235 and a +42 offset, you'll prolly rub - even with a CT drop. Just stick with the 225's, IMO.

you will rub in the rear, going in some driveways or with people/cargo in the back.

I have the 235/ 40 on 18'' 7.5'' rim with the CT drop but the rims are +45. With the +45s I don't rub.

Damn. I appreciate the input fellas so I might go the 225/40/18 route. I guess this will help with the gearing...haha.

Actually I need to purchase soon because I keep going back and forth...at this point I don't anticipate dropping the car this year (till its time for new suspension) so it might be worth getting the 235s now.....

Thanks for the help fellas. I pussed out and got the 225/40/18 Kuhmo Ecsta 712s. I said I pussed out cuz I wanted the 235s but would probably have rubbed hitting any bumps.

I needed something with decent tread life and that wouldn't break the bank. Shipped I paid about $415. I know these aren't the best tires but I haven't heard bad things about them. ANything is better than stock!

ferizzo -

How do the rims look? Did you throw them on the car yet? And how soon are you planning to do the drop?

I ask because my 18's are going on in 2 weeks and I want to see the car and drive it before I do a drop (most likely comptech with tokico HP shocks). Anyone know how long the Tikico aftermarket shocks are supposed to last? I am guessing 40 to 50k? I am getting labor charges of $300 (for shocks and springs), is that too high?

Post pics as soon as you can, I want to see how the rims look without a drop. I am thinking I should order my springs and shocks now so that I can drop it a few days after I put the rims on :-). Only annoying part is that I will end up getting two alignments within a few days.

Nofear, I probably won't have the wheels on the car till next friday (scheduled appt to have the tires mounted, wheels put on, and car aligned). I'll post pics once done. I probably won't lower the car till the shocks/springs need replacing or at the earliest next summer...unless the gap gets to be so unbearable that I crack and order them immediately.

BTW, what tires did you get? I thought I remember seeing that you got the yokos es100s.

That is the same problem I am having. My install for rims and tires is on the 9th of april. And I would really like to wait to change the springs and shocks til next summer but from everything I have read on the forum it will look bad. The diameter of my wheel tire combo increased by .5inches. So I would think that the gap would be just as it is now with the stock rims. Plus my profile is 45.

Anyone have good pics of the difference with and without the drop on 18's? Please post, thanks.
