Wife's Accord coupe was jacked for my TLS wheels

To make a long story short my wife and I went to the movies yesterday and when we came out we found her car on bricks with all four wheels gone! The cop was there writing a report when we showed up. She had my stock wheels after I had bought my 18s. This happened between 8pm and 10:15-10:30pm. After that I did not want to leave her car there over night so we called a friend of hers who picked her up to take her home. We had her stock wheels at home so she came back with them in my car and then we called AAA for them to bring a jack to help me get the wheels on. On top of all this the thieves took the lugs so my wife had to go to a friend's house to pick up some extra lugs and then bring them to me. We didn't have the wheels mounted till 3am and driving slowly didn't get home till 4am. Now I have to deal with this insurance BS today to prove they were the TLS wheels. Oh and not to mention she had just replaced the tires and they had less than 900 miles on them (Continental Contis). Sorry, no pics of the car on the bricks (I know, I know) but we didn't have a camera. Here is a pic of the car with my wheels and then I will post one of the car with the stockers later:

Oh and I'd really like to thank Bulldog01 (Pete) and Ray_Khan for helping me out. Pete loaned me the extra lugs and Ray was able to pick them up from him in NH. My wife then went to Ray's (1/2 hour from our home and about 50 minutes from the theatre) to get them and then bring them to me. I owe you guys!

Sorry for the long post.

does this theatre not having security gaurds driving around the parking lot?
If they do than sue them or get them to pay for it, because if the security was soing its job this wouldnt have happened.

Bigman, supposedly they do. I even asked the cop if they patrol the area and if this happens often and it said it happens occasionally. He did mention that they patrol the area and that someone had been there earlier (6pm) but that they were a little busier that night. I also spoke to an attendant later on (while I was waiting for my wife) who told me that they don't have cameras because the lot isn't even owned by the theater, but by the shopping center across the street.

blader, these fuckers do have some balls and I doubt no one saw them. honestly taking these off with the right tools probably wouldn't take more than 15 minutes. Its not like we were far from the theater either! I hope these fuckers get theres and I'll definitely have an eye for any non-TLS with TLS wheels...although in all fairness its ironic that they were taken from my wife's accord.

I thought about that...they might have gone for the HIDs also. Not to mention I park far away from everyone in my car as well, making it that much easier for them!

Fred, you don't owe me shit. Just make sure I have the lugnuts back for the winter.

This is not a good week for cars owned by me or people I know.

Let me know if you need anything.

talk about balls

these guys went to a open to the public movie theater with jacks and blocks and decided to commit a crime that to me seems not worth it

if they were like some $2500 per rim i could see it might happen but for tl-s wheels, im thinking they are pissed off with you or you got some psycho daring theives!

Yeah, it sucks that Fred has to deal with this over a set of stock wheels. I could see if they where aftermarket 18's or something...

That sucks, but look at the bright side.

You have digital pictures of the car with the rims mounted.
You have other wheels on your car where the rims came from which should make it easier to prove.
Hopefully you have the receipt for the tires you just bought.
And TL-S wheels are mega-expensive from a dealer so you may actually come out AHEAD if you buy some other aftermarket rims instead.
One final thing, this will come under comprehensive not collision so hopefully you deductible is much lower.

Theatres are a good target because the thieves watch to see when you go in knowing you won't be back to the car for 2 hours. with the right jacks and enough people you could get all 4 off in less than a minute, plus thieves know the start timesa nd when the parking lot will have people coming and going.
Any locks on the rims??

I saw one of those Dateline type shows and they were interviewing former thieves on how to protect your car.
They did a little “demo” of how easy it was to take four rims in under 5 minutes.

There were TWO guys and they had four of those little 9.99 hydraulic “bottle jacks” that you can buy at the auto stores.
They took all the lugs off before lifting the car.
Once the lugs were off, they lifted the entire front, then the back and rolled the wheels away leaving the jacks behind.
The guy said that sometimes they lack the car up really high then rock it off the jacks.
Then they can usually recover the jacks to use again if they don’t get wedged under the car.

Thanks Pete, I really do appreciate your help yesterday and I'm glad Ray was around your neck of the woods. I forgot my phone, which is why Ray called you.

The theater was in Framingham of all places! behind the Natick Mall.

We have been pretty good about not leaving the car anywhere because of this (garage park in NYC, never leaving the car overnight anywhere but home, etc) but we've been to that theater dozens of times both in my car and hers with no incidents. Sucks!

Shawn, yeah I have all the evidence (pics, receipts, her stock wheels, and my car to prove I have aftermarket wheels). We'll see what happens. unfortunately I don't feel safe with her driving the car because one of her stock tires is fuxored (notice it last night). The car also made a grinding noise on occasion when turning so the rotors need to be checked. Just a hassle but it could have been worse I guess.

I wonder how much noise a cordless impact wrench makes? It could make it a 3 minute job.

No worries, Fred...glad I could help. I told Ray I would have given you my stocks to roll around on for a while, but the tires are wrecked. Plus, it would have been hard to get the rims and tires on his bike.

Too bad you didn't get a pic of the car on blocks, it would have gone well with the Snatch quote at the bottom of your sig.!

Sucks what happened!

Two reasons I don't have wheel locks

1. I can almost guarantee that no one in my area would steal my wheels. That stuff just doesn't happen around here

2. If there are stolen I will pay my $100 deductable and get a new set of rims that will look alot nicer

Should of been playing socom with us last night and that would of never happened!!..... I was sleeping.. never played last night.

Damn Feriz, I know what how you feel, I was a paranoid wreck for about 3 months after my old car got raped....

I would have dreams of being alone in a room with the thieves and me breaking all their fingers with a baseball bat........ <--- I swore that if I ever caught a thief that is what I would do... but I am afraid I would get sued for everything and lose...

I know the feeling. Fortunately my wife reminds me to calm down because we have a lot to lose and nothing to gain (besides satisfaction) by beating the hell out of someone.

sorry man, i hate to see stuff like this, the rule of all is to never mess with any man (or woman's) car, its like an unsaid rule

get gorilla locks, instead of just one lug being keyed, all 4 or 5 of them are keyed, and it isnt that cheap indented key, it is a unique socket that does it, and gorilla lugs are not very common either

if the theives want your wheels...no locks will stop them...if anything, it will deter them a few minutes...over here in central NJ, theivery is like an epidemic...I never took my car to the theatres....i had heard SO many stories of peoples entires cars getting jacked...one time i was there, there was a show-car 96-97 accord, parked right on the end of the parking lot, facing the street leading in to the movies...the theives took everything, rims, system, tvs, even the freaking intake....its horrible nowadays

Quick Reply: Wife's Accord coupe was jacked for my TLS wheels
