Wierd problem while starting---NEED ADVICE----

i have a 03 CLS-6 supercharged. I dont drive the car often but sometimes when i start the car when it's hot or cold the car would crank one or twice the cut-off. The car would not completly start just crank and stop. when i turn the ignition again it would start. But the other problem is when i start driving the check engine light comes on. but the car would drive normal no stutter or vibrations, i get full boost no problems.

I got the codes read and it says all cylinders misfire and random misfire. i cleared the codes and the light would stay off until i would try to start the car and the would cut off while cranking. the cut off does not happen all the time maybe every other day when i decide to drive it.

Any ideas what the problem could be anyone??

yes.

you have 1 or 2 faulty coilpacks and it causes a misfire on all cylinder.
i would replace your coilpacks and get new spark plugs.

problem solved.

i take paypal

Maybe coilpacks - pop them out one at a time, load a spare known good spark plug in them and bump the engine, with the grounding node of the spark plug within range of something metal on the car (strut tower bar, core support, etc.) - it should arc. If it's not arcing - bad coilpack.

I just had the random misfire code on my 03 cls6 with 82k on it and it was 2 dead cylinders.

Leakdown test is the next step....

thanks guys. i had a feeling it was the plugs or packs. but i will try it. it's a pain to change plugs with the charger in the way. i changed the plugs not to long ago but instead of using the recommened denso's i used some ngk's. this could be the problem. but i will have to check.

Sorry phee dont have a paypal acc. lol. lol. thanks for the info.

thats the RJ body kit?

but if the car drives normal after wards than how can it be a bad coil pack? i know that when i took out my fuel pump fuse and cranked the car, didnt start just cranked but later i got missfire codes. check the compression on each cylinder

i know its not the coils packs. i replaced them not to long ago. i have a strong feeling it is the spark plugs. i will change it this weekend to make sure.

I got a code for random misfire and 3 cylinders misfiring..

My car rode REALLY rough and I could not go over 50MPH.
So it prob is not coil packs if your car is not riding rough!

actually NGK plugs are OE plugs. Not Denso.

Many people opt to get the NGK iridium IX plugs but OE is NGK Lazer Platniums or NGK Lazer Iridiums.

Dont you need a plug with a colder heat range if your boosted or something?

UPDATE

Well the changing the plugs did not help. the car is still doing the same thing.

I tried unplugging each of the coils one by one to see if there was any change in the engine tone and vibration and only one cylinder was not responding and only the middle cylinder was not responding, so i changed the coil pack and it was still doing the same thing. I know the coil pack is getting a signal, i tested it with an old spark plug.

So today i am going to swap injectors, one may be bad.....

Ohhhh and the reason i used Denso instead of NGK is because comptech recommends the Denso's, i think it's because it has a higher tolerance for the heat.

I figured out why i was getting the misfire codes. It's a bent valve in the front middle cylinder. Time for a head build!!!!!

for those who care here is a pic of a CL-s Head

Yeah i revved to high. it was my fault. you cant see it in the pic. the damage is on the other end in the combustion chamber.

I had the EXACT same problem about a year ago in my 03 cls auto. I ripped the car good on the highway one night and got the cel. Checked codes and it was the same thing- random misfire on all cylinders. It was knocking very loudly. I had an acura tech that I know a few hours away look at it. Turns out I had destroyed a rocker and he overnighted one and installed it along with new t-belt and water pump (90-100k maintenance). The car runs and drives great now except if I ever rip it i hear a noise at about 6500 rpm that sounds like a grinding/vibrating noise from the top end. I was pretty sure I had a bent valve, but now i know. It really suck cause I still drive it every day but can't rip on it over 6k or whatever cause I just hate that god awful sound. Sometimes it throws the random misfire code also (but only when I rip it) To original poster, you have a pm

Why haven't you got it fixed if it happened over a year ago. How much does it cost to fix.

More than I have right now. I really wish I could but I just cannot afford to bring it to Acura and get bent over. That's why I'm still looking for someone to do this on the side
