Who makes a better air filter?

Which reusable air filter is better, comptech or K&N? Or is there really any difference?

The Comptech filter is a foam filter made by UNI and put into a frame by Comptech that fits into our airbox. Another foam filter is the Amsoil air filter.

The K&N filter is a cotton media filter. Another brand of cotton media filter is Green. I've seen people in other car forums swear by Green.

Foam vs. Cotton, what is better? -- do a search. Lots of opinions on this. You'll find people that swear by both, and people that rant about both. Some feel that the foam filters filter better at the sacrifice of flow, and that the cotton filters flow better at the sacrifice of filtration. IMHO, I think both are probably fine at both tasks.

Currently, I have K&Ns in both of my cars. I did use the Comptech cone filter in my IceBox and it seemed to do its job well too. I've been intrigued by the Green filter, but cannot find a cone application that would fit in the Icebox.

Does the comptech filter fit in the stock air box and their ice box intake system? Does it fit in both? I know its a stupid question, but I was just curious. If I buy it now for the stock intake (if it fits) I want to know I wil be able to use it later. Its not a lot of money, but I'm really strapped for cash paying for my car and with no-job money is hard to come by.

The stock box uses a panel filter. Comptech makes a panel filter for this application.

The IceBox uses a cone filter. Comptech also makes a filter for this application.

Both filters use UNIs oiled foam media.

Different filters. Sorry.

I prefer the stock filter, and replace it every 10-15k miles... (I usually check it and when it's pretty packed with grease, dirt, and oil I change it)

Which K&N filter model/size fits the Comptech Icebox?

Cheers!
