You should bring your car to your dealer or one that's close to you to have them service for you: 1)they used original part 2)warranty issue 3)they change out the oil every 3,500 miles.

I dont know if you are joking around or not, and I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you "usually change your oil every 2500 miles" wouldn't you already know that you must bring your used oil to a local recycling center? At any rate, I'll answer your questions with my opinions.
1. Change the filter each time you change the oil. It makes sense if you think about it. Clean oil + dirty filter = Dirty oil.
2. Use the authentic honda filter. You can get one from the dealer for $5-8. No whining allowed, you own a $30,000 car. It is the same damn filter they use in almost all their cars. Just tell them what you drive.
3. I use Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic 5w-30 oil. The thickness of oil used depends on your local environment. You usually can't go wrong with 5w-30. Be prepared to spend $4 / quart.
4. Our cars need 4.6 quarts (as indicated in the manual) when you change the oil.
5. The county in which I live provides a "hazaderous waste" recycling center. You can get rid of paint, batteries, oil, etc. that your garbage company cannot accept, and you cannot legally pour down the drain. You should have a place such a this nearby. I usually collect the used oil from the drain pan that I use into milk jugs or other solid containers, and make the trip a few times per year.
6. I use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic.
7. I change it ever 3000 miles. That is way early for synthetic, but I'm not taking any chances with my car.
Good luck.

Read, read then read some more about oil and filters at the below web. Then do what you feel is the best for you.
I'm a engineer that likes to take things apart and compare sooooooo---
Honda filters are not very good. The usa ones anyway. below is a filter study you might find interesting.

I gave him a Amsoil filter for analysis, so far it's constructed similar to the Mobil1. will post pictures later.
