Are Wheel-Spacers Safe?

I was thinking of addin 1" wheel-spacers to my CLS and was wondering if it would change the offset dramatically?

- Would it put a strain/serious strain on my suspension?

- Would I get uneven tire wear?

- Would the dealer void my suspension warranty if they saw it?

- Would I have to get different rims with a 1" diference in offset?

- If its ok to go 1" is it still ok to go 2"?

well i have spacers on my front wheels because the spokes would've been hitting against the brake calipers... and everything seems fine so far. i don't know how to answer any of your other questions though, sorry. :P

U only have spacers on the front because the 'spokes' (u mean 'bolts/studs') were hitting the caliper? MAN .

So from what u've seen do u think that there is any way around that, with the exclusion of removing the rear brake caliper? Say possibly cuttin the bolt?

Tnx

How big are the spacers you have? I've got the same wheels and my spokes come so close to the caliper that you can't even slide a credit card between them. But so far, after 10000 mi no rubbing.

Hey Guys,

1" or greater wheel spacers would be huge. Typically, spacers are run from about 5 to 15 mm. Even these sizes will likely require you to run longer studs. One inch+ spacers would put tremendous strain on wheel bearings and possibly other suspension components. Why would you want to run something so large?

When I got new brake pads installed my wheels were rubbing against my brake calipers too. The dealer just filed down my calipers a bit and I painted them black. The filing isn't really noticeable.

huh? what bolts and studs are you talking about? What he said was his wheel's spokes were rubbing on the brake caliper. What do the bolts have to do with the brake caliper?

So can I put 1" spacers on all 4 wheels. Or would I need some modifications done to the calipers?
