Wheel Offset question...
I was shoppin on the vicoria tire website and it has different listings for wheels available for the 2001 TL vs the 2001 CL. Why is that? is it a difference in offset? Should I just ignore the suggestions and get a wheel for the TL even if it wont fit a CL according to their website? I know they also dont recommend 235-45-17 tires for a 7.5" rim but we all know better than that. Anyone know the answer?

I belive both 2001 CL-S and TL have a stock offset of +55 (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not as familiar with the CL-S)
The diff is that the CL-S uses 17" vs the TL 16". And their respective stock tire sizes which affect the speedo being correct.
If you're looking into 235/45/17 tires on 7.5" you would need at least a +45~+48 offset to be safe.
Worry more about the specs of the wheel/tire rather than what they recommend it for.
btw, which wheels were you looking into?

235 Series tires are fine on a 7.5' rim. It is the minimum recommended width by most manufacturers of 17/45-235 tires.
They are NOT recommended by most tire manufacurers on a 7" rim (like the stock CL-S). . . But, many members on this board have successfully mounted 235/14-17's on their stock rims. There have been no reported catastrophes that I am aware of, but there have been some reports of difficulty when it comes to using alignment equipment.
The offset argument is contraversial. It's actually pretty hard to find rims that are manufactured with offsets that are appropriately wide enough to suit the CL-S. It pisses me off that companies like T.R. recommend all kinds of wheels with lower offsets because that's what they have to sell.
Based upon my experience and that of other members I have confidence in, you should be safe with an offset between +48 and +53 for 7.5 inch rims and 235's.
Good luck.
