Wheel Alignment

How often do you guys have your alignment checked and re-aligned? My car is in the shop for oil change and getting my audio controls fixed and the guy said my car needs an alignment. He said they recommend it every 15,000 miles...isn't the alignment based on need and not on mileage?

In anycase, my 6-speed does pull right, but it always has since I got the car. They said they realigned once after I bought the car and it was still fine. Still pulled right to me, maybe not as much as now.

$90 for an alignment is a bit much....but I guess it's okay for a dealer. I'm gonna hold off and wait until I put new tires on the car since these stockies are almost shot. Maybe I should drop it first and put sways on....too bad I don't have the cash flow right now.

I had an 01 CLS and never had alignment done. Car always drove straight, even after 30k miles. My CLS 6MT has only had alignments done when I put the springs and shocks on. Car has always driven straight, except for torque steering. But I would recommend having it checked every 30k miles or whenever unusual tire wear or handling is observed.

Once a year I get it checked. You shouldn't need one unless you have problem with tire wear. Or lowered the car. Your pulling might be other things like a bad tire. If your getting new tires soon I'd wait. See if the new tires fix the pulling. Most tire shops will give you a free check if your getting tires at the same time, so have them check it at that time.

I have the 3-year alignment plan from Tire Kingdom so I basically get an alignment done everytime I have my tires rotated, about every 5K miles. The cost was somewhere around $150, money well spent IMO because even though my car has always driven straight the toe needs to be readjusted just about everytime. So if I didn't get the car realigned this often I'd probably go through tires even faster.

Get the lifetime alignment from firestone, for as long as you have your car you can get it done and it costs about 120, or about 1.5 the amount of just one alignment. For me, I took it to the dealer and they jacked up the alignment while unnecessarily replacing a suspension part and 3-4 alignments later I felt it was back to normal, so worth it for me especially dealing with incompetent people you want to be able to drive it and if its not quite good take it back at your own perogative

75$ for alignment from my dealer (park ave acura). they did it when they did my springs at 8K miles. I mentioned the alignment every 15K to them when I went in at 24K mi and they said not to waste my money, they are sure its fine.
