What's my 2001 CLS w/ Navi worth?
I'm going to sell it and am trying to determine as fair price and the best place to sell it (and that means get the most money). Here are the details
2001 CL Type S
Spoiler
Navigation
other than the trunk mat and winter mats, its stock
Black with Ebony interior and woodgrain trim kit.
85,500 miles (highway miles, driven fast so LOW hours of use - too bad its not a boat)
New Transmission at 72,000
New wheel bearings and brakes at 78,000 (rotora slotted rotors)
Adult driven, non-smoker, no accidents, yada, yada, yada
Needs tires...needs 'em bad.
NADA has is for $13,750 trade and $16,325 retail
Kelley has it at $11,400 trade and $14,125 private sale
TMV has it at $13,198 trade and $14,862 private sale
and Autotrader has 25 within 50 miles (both CLS and CLP) for anywhere from $10,995 to $20,800.
And the ones on eEbay are not moving at all.
So what do you think? I think I will try to sell it locally and for something around $14,000. I'm not in a hurry but the values keep dropping.
Any comments?

Just looking at what 85000 mile CLS's (Navi) Loan shows there is still some loan Value left to lenders.@ around $12000, on paper anyway.
IMO the Kelly trade is going to be the more realistic value for your car, due to reasons you most likey know.
Selling it PP would be the best route, IF you can find a buyer, but as you have pointed out there not excatly the hottest pre-owned car to be buying on e-bay.
Personally i'll be very surprised if you get $14000, with 85000miles on the clock, I hope you do, but as far as i see this cars life ends at 100000miles, unless you can find a dealer with will honor a tranny replacement at very little cost to you.
I guess the best thing to do, is to go to a few car dealers and see what they offer you in trade, aleast you will know where you stand with that. And will give you some idea
I just saw a local memeber here with an 01 CLS no navi with i think 42000miles got $14,800 on trade. And from what i saw his car was in excellent condition like yours.
Who knows maybe you will find a PP get lucky and sell the car for what your asking.

Sold mine 3 weeks ago for $13,500 ... CL-S with Navi, BBS wheels, 80,000 miles, and extended warranty. Started at $15,700 (No call for 2 weeks), then went to $14,900 (no call for another 2 weeks), then $13,750 (5 calls within 6 days). I had just put new tires on it as well.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Ouch. I bought my car at a dealer for $23,000 in Oct. 2003 @ 29k miles. I have 61k miles now. KBB is showing PPV @ $16,640. That's a $6,360 loss in 15 months.
Now add in-
Gas: $20 per week x 67 weeks= $1340
Insurance for 15 months: $850
Tires: Two replaced @ $230= $460
9 oil changes @ $25 ea= $225
TOTAL: -$9,235
$9,235 divided by 15 months= I spent $625 per month to own this car- not counting payments.
BUT I LOVE MY CAR!!!!

Really what I meant is asking $14,000 and taking $13,500 or so.

Find beauty in dissonance
2001 CL-S Non-Nav 63k. Spoiler, wheel locks, splash guards.
New tires at 52k, new tran at 55k, front brakes & rotors at 58k.
3 scratched rims, 1 nice door ding/dent, minor dings on roof from ice, bumpers marked from parking in the city, few small chips on hood with rust .... Fairly minor things, but an average car buyer would notice.
Traded it in yesterday for 13,000 at Carmax. KBB was 12,400.
I un-installed my amp and sub in the parking lot with a leatherman, priceless.

Starting at 14K sounds about right... like lead_sled_dog did, you can always lower the price if it doesn't sell. Autotrader, local papers, and thewantad.com would probably be good outlets...
Does this mean you're gonna buy a '74 Maverick ??

Actually, if I can get enough cash, I'll be driving a manual 2002 or 2003 VW TDI. I would prefer the Golf but seems like there are more Jettas available. I'm so cheap thay I am looking for a way to reduce the fuel costs. And zipping up and down RT93 from MA to Manchester, this seems like a good choice. The theme is that I can't spend more than I get for the Acuracer.

A TDI should make for a great commuter car.
