190 HP Maxima in top 10 shoot out...

Heck, even the old 1992 – 1993 Maxima SE with 190HP (with 5sp manual) was tested in a high-speed shoot out back in the early 90s and it ended up in the top ten fastest cars at that time. It ran 142-143 MPH. It was either R/T or C/D that did the test – I no longer have the issue.

I had one and it was quite fast on the freeway, even with the 4-speed slush-box.

The most powerful is the Cadillac STS, with 300hp. But, the new Altima is the fastest to 60, I believe.

between the two i would rather have the STS, bu as long as were talkin cadillac, the DTS (in black w/chrome wheels) has a meaner stance

Doesnt Cadillac have bad craftmanshift quality? Everytime I see a cadillac, there is always something leaking from the exhaust pipe. Altimas are pretty neat in my opinion.

This might sound somewhat insane...

But does anyone else remember the Chysler/Lotus 2.2L Turbo from the early 90's?

I remember these doing 0-60 in under 6 seconds in the Dodge Spirit RT sedan. (yeah, that's what I said back then.) Maybe even faster in the Daytona coupe; both FWD & stock.

Also what were the numbers on the 230HP 6-speed Legend GS? It might be faster than the 300HP Northstar Caddies.

hmmm....

i actually owned a 96 STS a while back and it was quick, but it didn't have the 'ooommmph' of a fast car.

the fastest fwd car i've driven is a Saab Viggen

I think 2002 Maxima 6 speed is one of the fastest fwd cars sold in U.S.A now.

GTR is all wheel drive... Dont forget about the Supra thats also built in Japan. It will give the skyline a run for its money.

Honestly I think it may of the been the Dodge Omni GLHS Turbo from '86. They were like 2200 lbs and 190 HP, don't remember the specs exactly. But certainly an unusual vehicle taht surprised many Mustangs and Z28/TA's.

But terrible torque steering...

I heard the I35 did 0-60 in a whopping 7.0 secs.
What a waste of 255 hp.

BTW, I believe they are FWD.

I thought they made a fwd skyline gtr. Yeah a stock Supra TT will out run a GTR but with a few mods the GTR is faster you can easily get 1,000 hp out of one.

yep. the shelby glhs omni (the "atomic rollerskate") and shelby glhs charger were pretty quick for their time. I actually got to drive my roommate's shelby charger back in college. talk about a hoot and a holler... (and a handful).

but I don't think they were faster in stock trim than some of the faster current fwd cars like the saab viggen or the new altima.

Dudes I konw I was semi-wrong cause I knew I remembered reading something about it in an article and I found it, In classic Jaguar they had an article about the X-type last year, and it explained that they made a FWD verison but never put it into production becuase of not ruining Jaguar's RWD only name. The AWD is has a 40/60 power dispersion, and ok it sill runs to 60 in 6.3 secs and it isn't called the X-type because of it's AWD it is called that becuase of it's mock of the XJ series body.

HEY….That’s one of my old cars.
YES, I had one of the AWESOME GLH-S Turbo rockets back in 87.
That car was a BLAST to drive and I miss it dearly.
I think it was 174 HP.
GLH = Goes Like Hell
GLH-S = Goes Like Hell “Somemore”

Mine was BLACK with 20% window tint all around.
Black headlight & taillight covers as well.
I had the stock Rims from my 88 Dodge Shelby Daytona Turbo on it so it could put a little more power to the ground with the wider rubber.
I got into a lot of trouble with that car. I was 20 when I had it.
