What's a fair asking price on 03 cl S?

hey guys,

I'm not posting a thread with links for sale or referencing my ad in any way. I just wanted to get some honest perspective from forum members about the value of the car.

It's an 03 CL Type S, 6 speed with nav, 92500 miles. Full service records, engine is 100 % sound no leaks. interior is flawless. Everything works perfect, i'm the second owner.

The only bad thing about it is the back bumper needs to be painted, has some scratches on each side of it, and behind driver side door there are two dings that need to be fixed.

Am I asking too much in classifieds section? I mean KBB says $7680 but this car is pretty rare so I would think that would account for the slightly higher price.

Let me know what you think, bad or good comments welcome. I just need some constructive criticism lol.

Value is in the buyers eyes .
I payed $5200 for mine a few months ago . Salvaged title 125k silver on black . Few dents and dings paint isn't perfect. No service records . But shes fine

The one you're looking at seems to be a $7000 car in my opinion . Make sure 105k service has been done imo .

Yeah that's a trade in value in this area, or if you buy at an auction I suppose.

Thank

sucks but it is 10 years old. If you can find a informed buyer that is looking for a 6MT CLS specifically you may get $7500. It's just under 100K & the 105 is done. Positive things.

I think $7500 is a fair price, definitely no less than $7000. If it was tinted and had a spoiler the price would be more appealing to me personally

Lol I am in Midwest.. there is plenty of M3's that are 10 years old and are sold for high teens..

I won't let it go under $7300, I still think that's a fair price for a car like this.. thanks all

What color exterior?
Black interior: Good to go at your asking price! But if it has the parchment interior, then it's worthless...

Maybe in your mind. To buyers that isn't the case. There at just as many buyers out there that will not buy a black interior because of the way the interior heats up and the color fades over the years.

Car color makes almost no difference in resale value other than in cases where it's a special edition color offered from the factory in limited numbers (my old Cobra in Competition Orange for example). Some colors may be slightly more desirable but people won't generally pay any more for a specific color and this is far from a desirable car that people will pay more for certain colors.

One of the best combos . I don't care for parchment either but a lot of people find parchment as more classy . I would be down for a custom peanut butter interior tho .

I think that is a fair price for the condition, one owner, and service records with major service done. You should probably just drop a couple hundred bucks and paint the bumper so that is not a factor. Someone looking for this car will want it to be pretty much flawless for that price. Make sure you give it a thorough cleaning, polish, and wax, then take some nice pics and pay a little money for an ad on Autotrader.com. If you are posting online ads make sure you list the mileage, it really pisses me off when people don't put that. And stress the high points you listed about one owner and maint. completed with full records.

That's some good valid points. I agree on the mileage thing, it really is a key factor in sales price. I got some quotes for around $200 and that's why I have the price reduced to $7500. I would have listed it for $8500 if the paint was perfect overall. as the interior is mint and engine runs like a champ, no leaks.

I disagree on getting the bumper painted if it's just typical parking scuffs. That's what bumpers are for. If I saw fresh paint I would assume seller was covering up real damage. Save your money.
Also, to be clear, car is on its second owner. But yes, a good thorough description, complete service records, and nice pics in an autotrader ad should eventually find a serious buyer for this fairly rare and desirable car.

i think $7500 is a good price. The milage is a key selling point. If you were selling it in the San Francisco, CA area you could probably sell it easily.

Good Luck

I've got a 2003 CL Type-S that I'm considering putting up for sale as well, so this is a very helpful thread. Looks like low miles, clean title, & maintenance records are key.
