Whats the best mods for 01 cl-s

Hello every1. i am new 2 acurazine. i also just purchased a 01 cl-s. i wanted 2 know what mods are best for this car such as, lowering springs, exhaust, spark plugs, CAI... etc.. i love this car. its fast as hell. i was doin research and was thinking bout goin completely wit comptech???? i have 1 problem thts annoying me. i had my brakes changed but not my rotors. when i bought the car there was performance rotors on it already. Strauss Auto couldnt didnt have the rotors so i told them 2 just change the brakes?!? now its a grind noise.. is it cause the performance rotors where not cut? or is it something else??

option underdrive pulley- 60-70 with belts 8hp (i'd say, u can feel it more than a CAI)
Cold Air Intake- go on the Black market you can find one there for 150 or so 8-10HP
Headers- comptech is the way to go. there is a set in the black market i believe for 450 or so and I would SNATCH THEM if I were you. they add 30HP. or u can buy the cheep ones which usually crack eventually but cost like 150-200 new. ur choice.

Keep in mind these numbers are PEAK gains so adding them up will not give you the maximum HP increase of the motor. but its still sweet.

but those IMHO are the best 3 to start. you'll already think ur car is a whole different animal.

Keep you eyes out in the BLACK MARKET section on this website. the best stuff comes up there and goes fast a lot of the time.

intake and headers under the hood. If your going comptech, you better save up.

The pulley is a very consistent HP gain because it's not making any power by being there it just frees up power that was already there but being wasted spinning a larger and heavier pulley so it really adds 7-10 HP from idle to redline. It also allows the engine to rev a little quicker. I would definitely do the pulley over the CAI if I had to pick just one of the 2. Headers will give the most noticable gain but they are a more expensive mod. Pulley is the best bang for the buck.

Yes, the previous versions were no good.

If there is something i regret, is not going with headers before my intake and exhaust.

Pulley= best mod for the $
Headers = most noticeable gains (other than FI)

I would do pulleys and headers at the same time.
You will see gains across the whole band.

The pulley will give you quicker acceleration off the line.
And the headers will be most noticable mid to high rpm's.

I havent had them long but I got obx headers and they have no issues either installation/performance.
And I bet grabbing a set of the obx headers and the option underdrive pulley would be the best upgrade for your money.
Both could probally had for $300 or less.

And believe me you will be very pleased with the gains,They WILL be felt.

First and foremost; Welcome to Azine! Love TW CL...wish I would have got the white or anthracite instead of Silver Satin Metallic.

I agree with pretty much every thing that's been said...

So I'll only add that it helps to know what direction you'd like to go before doing any thing.

That way you don't just throw a bunch of random shit on there.

Every body has good their opinion but I always gotta say "quality over quantity"

When I bought cheap stuff, it failed.

i wouldnt say buying cheap is always bad just as long as you do your research first before you buy it. for example the option racing pulley is $25 and the UR pulley is like $200 and you get pretty much the same gains.

no saying it's factual for every scenario... it's just a generalization.

Well I think in that situation the idea of "Price != Quality" would apply.

I do have that mod.. it's the only one that was cheap and effective. and still is the best mod imho. for the price.

Ditto.

I haven't read any complaints about the newer design. That's why I italicized "current"

No really I searched around and couldn't find any complaints about the 3 bolt design. All complaints were about the 2 bolt design. afaik they don't make the 2 bolt design anymore.
