Liberty Mutual since 10/03 - $1,500 per year
Progressive from 04/02 to 10/03 - $2,700 per year
Amica for many years before that...excellent company. Divorced and moved to NH, so I couldn't stay with Amica, cuz of title issues.
I may go back to Amica when I buy my car in February.

AAA insurance.. I think it is called CSAA also.. awsome company.. cheapest I can find. MY 2003 CL-S (full cover) + 2002 Dodge Neon (long D car) = only $1,300 per year... =P

Trust me, I've been getting tickets and accidents in So Cal all my life so I have had been with many different Companies. Yep, hands down my best experience ever, got it on the house and cars. My last was GEICO, who I had to have cause they were the only ones who could insure me in Belgium, where I was living at the time. When I got back to Cali, I had an at fault accident (I miss my 92 Legend), and several violations of all sorts, they cancelled me. USAA picked me right up and worked with me, I even smooth talked my policy underwriter to overlook a violation that was still a year out in order to save some dough. What service.
You do have to have some affiliation with the military in order to be able to use it. Last time I checked, if your parents, or spouse is military or was at some point and time in their life, whether it be active duty, guard, or reserve, you qualify. Certain non military Government employees also qualify. My friend works at thier San Antonio headquarters so I will have to give him a ring and double check that. I do know they have a second west coast regional office in Sacramento somewhere also.

About the credit scores. Once they ass for an SS# you know they are checking with credit companies. A lot of people get denied insurance because of it, even homeowners insurance. I don't think it is right, but whatever they want to do.
Mapinfo allows you to pull information from a database of claims or whatever and they can pinpoint where most claims occur and can also tell them where their best customers are. Living in a more affluent area can be noted and if you live in the area you can get better prices.

If you live in NJ, there ain't no GEICO or a lot of others you have mentioned. Most insurance companies want no part of NJ's screwed up insurance program. That's why we have the highest premiums in the US.
Prior to moving here, I had GEICO in California. I quit and moved to Allstate when the premiums went out of sight because I owned a "sports car" (1982 BMW 633CSi - anyone who has ever driven one can tell you that they ain't fast 0 - 60MPH in about 10 secs). I also objected to the donation of radar guns to the state of California when the public voted down unanimously to not get them. After that they started the raising of premiums if you had a radar detector. Enoug is enough.

I know what you mean.
My girlfriend has a 99 Pontiac Sunfire with a perfect driving record and I have a 96 Cherokee and a 01 CLS with a pretty flawed record. I live in Philly and she lives in Jersey. She still pays $200 more a year than I do.

I also have my Home Insurance policy with them as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to be in the armed forces, retired armed forces, or did something in the military in order to have USAA coverage (unless you are the child of a covered individual)?
USAA is a great insurance company. They have offered great service, and the best prices.
And the great thing, when I become fully independent of my parents, I can maintain my USAA coverage!!

Edit: Don't get me wrong, I believe it too I just think it's taken out of context, attempting to get you ticketed so they can raise your premiums. I've read it in my policy where they don't even count certain speeding tickets against you...doesn't make sense.

I have Fireman's Fund and so far, so good. I picked them b/c of a websurvey in NYS by Dept of Ins. and b/c of which atty's office represent claims made against you.
