You said price was not object...

I still like my Toyos (do I sound like I don't like them).

I would be curious and would consider the S-03. I do think that technology changes very fast, and the newer tires like the re-730 and toyos seem to be great tires.

I bought my tires on a price = no concern basis. One of things that made me go with the Toyo was the great reviews (wet, dry, etc), new technology, aggressive tire tread, rim protection, and better than stock load rating (and even XL rating).

Would you be our S-03 tester?

(just my opinion)

The S-02s are actually better than the S-03s...Toyos are pretty good...but the S-02s are the best on the market right now.

Where did you come upon this?

I've talked to some people, and depending on the car, they prefer the Toyo T1S Proxies.

There are a lot of people who see tire tests, etc. One of the things that is interesting to note is:

1. Different magazines within a 1 year period will pick completely different tires as their winners (The link I posted to the re-720 site comes to mind).

The test tires on different cars -- and different tires react differently depending on their size, the car, and the surface.

Ever notice how many compounds they use at different race tracks, and that is for the same car.

Also, as a note, did you notice in the latest (or near latest issue) or Motor Trend that they are going to be using Toyo T1S Proxies in a 245/40-18 on those beefed up S4 race series Audis. The cars did pretty well compared to race rubber. (I know 3 seconds is a lot [per lap], but compared to full race rubber.)

S03s are the continuation of the S02 evolution. The S03 tire is the best tire Bridgestone makes currently. I agree with Eric.

The second best tire for me would be the Michelin Pilot Sport. BMW did not chose that tire as OEM for their M3 for no reason.

The Toyo T1S does in a 235/45-17, but don't try burning your tires and rims down a curb, it just adds enough additional rubber to give a slight warning (before it's rim crush time).

You will have to be very careful about the alignments (as I noted).

Price no object? Well, then I'd have to go with that set of tires that come with the Ferrari...

Pirelli's maybe?

StonedCL: I would, I mean DID, go with the TOYO Proxes T1-S in the 235/45-17.

Of course, I also am, I mean DID, put them on new rims.

They got put on just this morning. So far, and it IS raining, so good. I can tell the difference even at slow speeds.

Good luck.

StoneCL,
I got Toyo Proxes 225/45x17 ZRs. The tire guy said 235's would rub and other people on this board with 235's have had some rubbing, especially if you get lowered springs. I did the COmptech springs. The way I fly around corners made me absolutely avoid anything even close to rubbing - it could be deadly. Anyway, the tires are great. A little hum here and there, moreso after a month of wear actually, but they ride well and stick like glue and are very steering responsive. I'd save the extra money you'll pay for the s-03s or Pilot Sports.

Being that money was an object, I got the Potenza S-02 Pole Positions from Tire Rack. They're being discounted since the S-03's have just arrived.

The S-02PP's in 215/45R17 were $140, until they're all gone. They should be nearly as cheap in CL sizes.
