What mods to do first?

What do ya guys think;

Plan A (Mix):
-CAI = $185
-Sways = $300
-Mufflers = $650
total = $1135

or

Plan B (total power):
-Header = $1000

Part of me wants the power first, the other half says some power & handling with a sound improvement. What do ya think?

I think CAI with Springs and Sways. You already have enough power, definetly need to control it better. Maybe even new tires. I think you can add power later via headers and mufflers if you feel the need but your improvements to handling will be felt more often then the extra hp.

Big Pimp, I was thinking of not doing springs due to the crappy roads in Staten Island. So I substituted the mufflers instead. But I really like the way the comptech springs look & handle.

forget the mufflers... unless you really like that sound.

Do the headers make a difference in exhaust sound without the mufflers?

not really. there is a slightly raspier engine sound with the headers and perhaps a miniscule overall increase in noise.

Yeah, I know what you mean by roads in SI. Maybe they will fix them up by summer, although they are always an adventure. However, from the two cars that I've rode in this Saturday, I really did not feel that much of a difference in the ride. The TL I rode in felt better than stock. He had 18s, springs, sways. The only thing about Comptech springs that I am not sure if I like is the rake look. I would much rather have an even drop.

May be you can go:
1)CAI
2)Sway
3)Brakeline
4)Spark Plugs
5)V-AFC
Then maybe your headers if you feel more need for speed or you can get tires for better grip. Just my opinion.

On its way: AEM CAI/Comptech Sway Bar/Brake Line
WS Apexi Coilover or Comptech Headers

Could be... What time? I've been doing Gtech 0-60 and qtr mile tests to get a baseline before doing any mods.

Big Pimp, I thought the spring ride was great on Saturday. The problem is the ride height. The car would take a beating during my 100+ mile commute everyday. So I need the SUV suspension for now.

New Plan- Plan C;
-sways
-cai
(save for tires and rims)
(header last)

If you're going to spend $1k:

Tires
CAI

You'll receive the benefits of both worlds this way.

I'd like to save and get tires and rims. Maybe the Toyo and SSR combo discussed on the other post today. If I did not live in the Northeast i'd just get tires.

Remember, you can always sell your CL-S rims over on the TL website to help bankroll your rims & tires. Just got springs/sways/rims/tires on my TL and the difference in handling is incredible. Screw the CAI, dump your first $1000 in the suspension.

tel1sps: Having gotten the Xephyr CAI this past Saturday at the meet, I can tell you that it is worth it and a power (slight) increase for a reasonably inexpensive price.

I am not much of a Speed-Demon, so next I am going to work on the suspension in the form of SWAYS and (probably) SPRINGS. Although, I REALLY WANT chrome wheels - possibly in 18" size. Of course, tires would be included if I go that route.

Good luck with your decision-making and, keep us posted.

Thanks Guys for all the advice...

One thing that is definite is the sways, so i'll have those put on next week when Jens does my 7500 mile service. Then i'll look at tires & rims (after tax refund). Lastly the power cai and or header.

I'll let ya all know how the sways and service go next week

CAI, springs, sways and forget the mufflers. I'd spend the cash on new tires instead, I think you'll get much more appreciable difference in handling for the $$ vs. the addition of mufflers that add maybe 5 h.p. IMHO
