I use the recommended premium (I've got a CLS)... If you've got a CLP, it might be fine. I'm not sure what's recommended for the CLP.
For the average driver, who drives 12,500 miles a year, and lets say the average CL gets 22mpg, that's 568.18 gallons needed for the year...
If 89 is 20 cents cheaper then 91, then the yearly savings would be $113.63... (Don't they teach math to kids anymore ??).
If you're worried about saying 100 bucks a year, I suggest you sell the CLS and buy a civic or fit![Tongue](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Besides, if you use something less then what acura recommends, the ecu is going to retard the timing, and you're going to get less hp....
Now, if you buy the civic, and it gets 32 mpg....
12500/32 = 390 gallons needed per year... 178 gallons saved.... so even if you used premium in the civic, @ $3 a gallon, you would save $534 a year... Your savings would be even more if you used 89 (but that would mean the civic couldn't be a SI).
Summary: The facts plainly show that you could save a shit load of money if you got a civic...

Well i placed the good stuff, Oct 94 from Sunoco, and i get about 220km on a half a tank which is about $25cdn. Not to bad for the size of engine and the price of gas (1.11-5per Litre). I got my car this weekend, so this week coming up will give me a better indication seeing ill be driving to work and such. I will never place Oct 87 in this, and the price difference between OCt 92 from 94 isnt that big. So ill stick with the golden stuff for now.

So if you drive 12,500 miles a year you're going to save $56.80...
If you were to drive 25,000 miles a year you'll be saving the $113...
Kinda makes my argument even better

I have rum my cls out of gas only once. everytime the gas light comes on I zero the odometer. I have made it 65 miles before running out of gas. Even then I was a able to sit with the ignition on and the engine off to allow the fule pump to get any gas the tank had into the line. It started back up after sitting for about five minutes on the side of the highway and I drove about two more miles to a gas station. I have been 48 miles in the city when the car started skipping on power.
