What else do you drive , besides the CL ?

Just curious , what is the CL to you ? Is it the daily, racecar, beater, odd car out that never really gets driven anymore ?

Personally it is my only car . When I take it apart or start working on it I must finish in a couple hours because it's my only transportation . I wanna get another car but I don't know whether getting a newer car and considering it a strict daily or get something more for a project and daily the CL . Considering my cl is the 5at I wanna daily it , or consider it the "stanced car" not "racecar" .

It seems everyone has their car in the shop or taken apart , just wondering what else you drive ? You can post pics here , talk about it , explain , give thoughts , whatever it is . Just wanna get the CL side talking a little .

My CL is basically a weekend toy/golf car (drive to golf course). I came across these cars by accident while looking for a driver for one of my daughters. My wife drives an '08 base TL, and since its the best car we've ever owned I was seeing what kind of used Acuras were out there. When I found out how limited the production was on the 6 speed cars I decided I needed one. I have a whole fleet of seldom driven unusal cars in various states of condition (71 Olds 442 factory 4-speed 1 of 895 which I restored in 1989, 71 Olds 442 W-30 auto car unrestored (needs restored) 1 of 810, 71 Olds Vista Crusier factory 455 & dual exhaust. Its 80% done, but I haven't touched it for 4 years, and a 1998 Olds aurora with the autobahn option (1128 made in 98)). My daily driver is a company pickup. If your looking for cheap dependable daily transportation late 90s Olds 88, pont bonneville, or buick lesabre. These cars have the indestructable 3800 engine and can be found in great shape with under 150K miles for a couple grand or less. My daughters drove some form of these all through high school and college. In fact one is still driving a 95 bonney we bought from original ownwer for $2500 (It was mint when we got it 3 years ago). Now that I've bored you to death you'll wish you never started this thread.

My CLS6 is my daily at the moment as my swapped MR2 is waiting on exhaust to be able to be put on the road but it starts and runs. Once that's done the plan is to drive the MR2 around town and use the CLS6 as a trip or weekend driver.

First 2 pics are my last 2 daily's and the last one is the MR2 before the swap.

My car is my daily driver (~20-30k miles a year) anytime I work on it I have to have it done the same day because I work 5-6days a week. The longest thing I had to work on was swapping the transmission which took about 9-10 hours with a couple of breaks. I ve been looking for a second car but everything I have seen has been crap or nearly totaled and being sold as never in an accident I've been trying to find a cls6 in good condition for a decent price but they are all at least 400 miles away.

CL Is My Summer Car. I Drive A 1999 1.6L Sentra In The Winter. Bought It For Like $4,500 In 2006. It's Been A Great Car. Small Oil Leak But That's It. I Also Cycle To Work A Lot In The Summer So The CL Doesn't Get Out That Much, Which Is Why I'm Considering Selling It.

Got a 99 b3000 ext cab to be able to carry stuff around and a 89 olds 88 that I bought from a family member for 300 that in 6yrs the only thing it's needed has been tires and front brakes.
It's starting to look like crap now because paint is starting to peel and the vinyl top is starting to crack but it never left me stuck anywhere.
cant beat that I paid 300 for a car and it's lasted 6yrs so far.

And of course the the CL.

Lately I've been driving the NBP 08 tls with the full a spec package everyday for about the past month. I love it because it doesn't get annoying after driving it awhile. I will say it isn't the greatest on gas either haha! Currently my cls has been just sitting in the garage hibernating since I've been procrastinating lol. But usually I drive the cls more often when it is running or not apart. Once I have it 100% again I think I'm going to lean more of keeping it a weekend car.

Yes it does. But, simply getting an exhaust and an E85 tune, you'll put down near 200whp. With a car that size, it would sit next to a stock CL-S6 (might even outrun it due to the launch).

Boost is my next step, followed by a flex fuel kit.

Beater/daily, cause i paid 10k for the car in 2006, weekend car is a turbo miata with 260 to the wheels, I much prefer rear wheel drive for any serious motorsports racing now.

Jeep SRT8 is the daily although I'd much rather use the CL as the daily to keep miles low on the truck. The Jeep is a blast to drive and handles much better than the CL (haven't had any suspension work done in a while) and the AWD is fun but the CL is more fun being a manual, not to mention the whine of the blower.
I'm in a condo and don't want two cars sitting out front so I garage the CL somewhere and only drive it once a month . Getting a house and garage are #1 on the agenda this year

did take it in the quarter once, ran a 12.68 on r comps, spinning first and second.

Boost hits at 2k-2500 pulls all the way to redline.

even more fun on race gas.

Nice. Im a couple hundred pounds heavier and I have no intentions of stripping it, but I'd need about 300-320whp to get into the 12s. At least thats what others have run at those power levels.

Then again, theres a 520whp car running 11s, and now theres a 440whp 2JZ swapped car in Bahrain that ran a 11.1 on its shakedown run

Now I would love a 2jz FR-S, with like 500 hp at the most, God that would be a sexy car.

Just looked up some info on that car, only running 1 bar of boost, 440 hp dyno.........LOL

That thing is a beast. I like the power output, I just don't really like the motor though. It doesnt fit the car IMO. I like what I've been seeing from the FA20 though.

I'd take that 2j just cause the amount of aftermarket support for that engine is retardedly strong, I can understand the fa20 though, I just think straight 6 engines are amazing though, that and they sound amazing.

What about a flat 6, that could probably work...lol

We could technically use the EZ30 or 36, but its an older generation motor. The FA is chain driven and has direct injection. It takes to mods pretty well and is pretty well engineered. I haven't read of any motors that have been grenaded on boost (its still early though). But with DI, even with the high comp, 300whp on ~8psi is easy.

A new clutch, port injectors and pump are required though. The stock fuel system runs out of steam around 260whp.

Im still waiting to see how long the tranny and diff last on high hp though.

From what i hear they used the tranny from the is350, so it's pretty stout. should at least be able to handle 300-350 easily.

I think that was the 6AT that it was based off the IS350. The 6MT is in the same family as the RX8 and S2k which has me somewhat worried.

But, with all the shop cars out there with 350whp+, there was only one company that reported an issue with the tranny, but they didnt say what the issue was. To add to that, they were the one testing EcuTeks flat foot shifting.

Had a '04 Cobra that made +700WHP but nice I was driving less than 6500 miles a year total (on both cars), I got rid of the Cobra. Miss it.
