Well.... I'm no longer president of the
non-scratched rims club. After 3 years of ownership and being very careful of curbs and the like, I was washing my tires and rims off the car before I changed from snows back to summer tires. My neighbor's 3 year old was out running around and the wheels were standing on the tire. I was down to my last one. I had just jacked up the right rear when I heard the rim hit the ground. The little so and so next door tipped it over.
Now he's a little kid and he was just curious. It was my fault for leaving it unattended and standing on end. BUt..... what really pissed me off was he was with his Dad. When I heard it fall, I said "Be careful, they scratch easily". I looked up and the father had taken a paper towel out of his pocket and was trying to dust off the rim. The next thing I looked up and he and his son was gone. No nothing, no sorry, no go f&*% yourself. No nothing. I was gonna tell him his front tire was low but to hell with him.
Alas, I now am a member of the scratched rims club.

Too bad the rim didn't tip the other way. It would have been a win-win situation then...
1. The heavy stock rim would have crushed the little 3 year-old's body.
2. His dead, twitching body would have cushioned the fall of your rim...the only bad thing is cleaning off the blood.
