Well I posted bad experiences so here's a good one

I went to Park Avenue Acura yesterday, as was recommended by people from this forum, for my 15,000 mile check. I must say that it was a good overall experience. I tallked to the service rep and told him what I wanted. They followed my instructions to a "T". I mentioned the "hairy" seats and they brought the service manager out. He said he had not seen it before but would talk to the Acura service rep about it.

They called me a few hours later and informed me that the car would be ready soon and they wanted permission to replace the black molding inside the right front wheel well, as it was cracked. It was cracked from a collision I had back in June when I got sideswiped. I authorized that. When I went to pick up the car, it was ready, washed, vacuumed, and serviced. They told me that they roadtested it and noticed that the sunroof was making noise so they fixed that. They also noticed a bubble in the molding around the rear seat windows and ordered 2 new moldings.

Very courteous people and defintely eager for new customes. I will defintely go back.

As I was leaving, the service writer gave me a little package. In it was a Park Avenue Acura T-shirt and a handy ice scraper with a woll covering over the handle. Kinda nifty. When I got in the car, there was a card attached to the rearview mirrow. I took it off and it was a thank-you note for visiting. There was a picture on the back and it was personally signed by one "Jens Heydel". Very nice service. I highly recommend them for service! Sorry for the length.

About the hairy seats ... I assume you mean the threads coming thru the perforation in the leather. My dealership (Bloomington Acura) is ordering me a new seat cover ... i've brought it in twice for the same thing ... i think they got sick of pulling out each and every piece of thread.

The one dealer in the Albany area has pretty good service too. They always give you a follow up call to be sure all went well and if you fill out a dealership service survey you get a free oil change!

Okay, here's another. You guys know the problem with the SS because of a drink or something spilled in the area of the shifter. (Incidentally, why don't they have a boot like everyone else so that nothing can get down there...sheesh...my 72 SuperBeetle had it1) anyway, they special ordered the part about a month ago....Friday they called to say that it was in. I made an appointment for monday. They had the car all day (delicate operation I was told). They finished the car when they said they would, it was clean inside (ice and rain so they didn't wash it) and everyone from Dean (service manager) to the salespeople (I didn't get there until 8 and the service dept was gone). They left my keys and the paperwork with the salesperson...they hooked me up and I was out in less than five minutes. A rep. called today for follow-up ...it's been great so far!

Incidentally, that's Don Carlton Acura of Tulsa, OK.

That's what I'm talking about. They seem to go away with useage. My problem is in the rear seats because no one ever sits back there. When it finally warms up above 50 degrees, I might be more enthusiastic about trying to eradicate but so far too cold.

THey had an internet special for $199. They actually sent me an e-mail. The service manager, Wayne Gruen and on of the techs read this board frequently.

LOL, I'm not Jens but the dealership is located in Maywood. It's between I-80, Rt17, and Rt4.

For the "hairy seat" problem, have you guys tried using packing tape to just pull the cotton fibers out? I don't have this problem anymore because people sit in my seats and likey take the fibers with them when the exit the car.

When it gets warmer, I'm gonna try a number of different ways. Tape, leather cleaner/conditioner, and maybe my Gillette TRACII! But traffic does seem to make it less noticeable.

Hairy seat solution.
Those of you with the hairy seat problem, try taking a can of compressed air and spraying it on the seat. The air might lift the leather and force the cotton back in... Just a thought.
