A bit different method then Lou. Used a 3M product with self adhesive. stuck the rubber to the inside wall of the holder. Got the kind of stripping with two fingers (prongs?). now the weather stripping contacts the front bumper not the hard plastic. Don't even need to use a wrench to tighten the holder bolts. The rubber puts a bit of tension on the bolts... Acts like a natural locking washer. Sorry no camera.

The weather stripping is pretty soft rubber. Still not sure the soft rubber over time will not harm the paint but its got to be better than that hard plastic.
