Volvo's kick stock CL ass
I've raced many CL Acuras and I have to admit they are good, I actually want one myself, but my Volvo gives it a run for its money.

C'mon your comparing a modded vs stock, how about stock for stock. You are probably have turbo work and chipped right? I know 850T5(222hp 221trq) stock cannot take stock CL-S unless it's a 850T5-"R"(240hp 221trq). Oh yea i was checking my old R&T mag and they test a 1996 850T5-"R" auto 0-60>7.2 sec and 1/4 mile 15.5@89.6.So the CL-S will win over on auto T5-R, but a manual will be a good race. By the way welcome to our board

I am not sure wether its modded, it feels like it is, but I am positive that even stock to stock race would be very interesting, I am having trouble finding after-market parts for my volvo though so if any of you have anything interesting to share, also, thanks for the welcome, oh and T5 doesnt come with manual, plus living in brooklyn a manual would be a pain in the ass

Maybe he is talking about the CL-P and not the CL-S.. in his post he does not mention which CL he beats.

Mine is like a S70, the V70 is a wagon, mine is a sedan...Im sorry i didnt mention which CL, CL-P, stock vs. me (stock) is an interesting race and depends more on the driver, however I think I can beat a CL-s stock vs. me (slighty modded) though i have yet to race a CL-S

Drifting
I used to drive a 95 Volvo 850 Turbo and now drive a Type S, no the Volvo won't beat the CL but can sure keep up with them. The new S60 is another matter of course with 250 horses. As for being too expensive, yeah, they're more than the Acuras but they sure give a good bang for the buck when compared to similarly equipped Audis, BMWs and Benzes (sp?). By the way, I'm new to the boad too and had to defend my old baby!

Ah, a new Volvo driver in the house!
Volvo's are expensive. Luckily, I was able to buy my 1998 S70 T5 using Ebay for $20K. That's still expensive for a 2 year old car, but it's still a lot lower than the sticker in 1998 of $37K. My car has the sport package and the usual luxury frills.
Here are the specs I pulled off another site. They sound about right.

You can find performance parts for your Volvo at IPD they are Volvo and Saab Specialists. Thier number is: (800) 444-6473, you can talk to Scott or Tim.
My dad had a 850 T-5, He changed the suspension, ECU, air intake, Exhaust, if you are interested, he has his suspension for sale ( Bilstein Sport Shocks, and Lowering Springs) He sold it about 1 year ago and now drives a Lexus GS400. He was deciding wether to get The Acura 3.2CL Type S, or the Lexus. He bought the Lexus, I bought the Type S.
