I'm confused. I thought the lotus was quicker... Vette ate it up in the straight aways...
!?!?
I expected a lot more from the lotus in terms of power.

A quick calculation with the numbers you gave me put the Elise at a 13.5 in the 1/4... Hmm... the torque of the vette must be what helps past 100mph.

But how about this Elise? How fast do you think this one will be?
This is the 380HP engine from the RS4 Euro Spec

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd say high 10's, even lower if you can get traction!
WOW
I plan to build a Shelby Cobra in the near future with a 405hp stroked 351. This gives me a good idea of what will happen.
Insane power to weight on that Elise.

This track was better suited to the Vette. It had more long straight-aways which benefited the Vette as the Vette looks like it has a much stronger top-end. A tighter course would probably favor the Elise
Cool video, and great to see the Vette hold it's own. But I thought "But they have never...I have checked this out with all the experts...they've never made a car that can take corners properly." HAHAHA You should send this video to Top Gear

I'd say throw an Esprit instead of an Elise in with a Vette!
The outcome would have been much much different.

The Skidpad and Slolam performance are almost exactly the same. (mag racing here.. sorry)
The 4 cylinder Esprit (the majority of those made) had less power (300hp/281 torque) and would definitely not be able to beat a well driven Vette

Happy CL-S Pilot
do not forget this lovely conversion for like $6,000 from Mr. Joe:
0-100 MPH in 8.9s!!!
Although the Yokohama A-039's that were on the Exige originally worked quite adequately on the track, they were never able to handle the torque of the K20A from a standing start. Since acceleration timing is one of the standards by which performance is measured, I started looking for 225-45X17's that would be up to the task. B.F. Goodrich G-Force Drag Radials are made in that size, so I bought a pair to use for testing. Even though I was only able to launch the car at 3,000 RPM, I was able to record these times, using a freshly calibrated Stalker Radar System. This is the same equipment used for almost all magazine tests for acceleration and braking, and is considered the standard of the industry.
0-60 MPH = 3.7 seconds
0-100 MPH = 8.9 seconds

I haven't decided on a specific manufacturer yet. I really need to spend some time inspecting the cars up close.
I've seen a factory five car in person. looked pretty good.
I really like he look of www.superformance.com cobra.
EDIT:
I'm also not too hot in the mustang front end of the FF cobra.
but I haven't done enough research to speak of on it.
EDIT:
I see they have a revised MKII now nice

Check this site out www.canamexotics.com
They started their own kit car company. The car handles amazing! Their cars were 1 and 2 on the road course at Run and Gun(National Kit car competition). They beat out a bunch of Cobras, GT40's, and Ultimas.

I wonder if Lotus approached Honda about using the K20A. So much more to start, so much potential. :o

I think the result would have been fairly close. The Esprit also has only slightly better performance in the figures such as 0-60 and 1/4.
The Skidpad and Slolam performance are almost exactly the same. (mag racing here.. sorry)
The 4 cylinder Esprit (the majority of those made) had less power (300hp/281 torque) and would definitely not be able to beat a well driven Vette

The Vette will not keep up with the four banger Elise in the turns, what makes you think it will keep up with the V8 Esprit? Even if on the straights they were even (which I doubt), any Lotus would have a Vette on the twisties...

Hehehe....Thanks cusdaddy.
See what I mean. And that's a C5. If the Z06 were there, we would be seeing one car in the video....including the Elise.

I think the Esprit would have faired better in that track with that Vette. You would need the Z06 to beat the Esprit. The Esprit's HP figure was way under-rated. I remember 4.4 secs for the 0-60 mph.
