Very bad radio reception, didn't expect this on a Japanese car
I have posted this a long time ago, about losing radio reception and wanted to see if there were any others out there and any solutions. It only picks up close radio FM/AM radio stations, and is mostly static.
It did this all of a sudden. I haven't had time to check it out or get a radio shop to look at it. Acura/Honda wanted $250 to just "check it out" and a radio shop wanted $50 to "inspect it."
Someone on the forums told me a while ago that a cable can get disconnected from the back of the head unit that connects it to the windshield antennas. Anybody have any other thoughts?

The first thing I would do is see if you can locate the antenna connections and re-tighten/reconnect them. When I got my '02 Kia Rio, the A-Pillar mast antenna was 3/4 unscrewed.

Pull the drivers side of the center console off and you can reach the antenna cable where it plugs into the back of the head unit. If it is securely plugged in you probably have an issue with one of the antenna lines cut on the rear window(they look just like defroster lines). I believe there are repair kits for the window lines, but I do not know how easy they are or how successful the repair is.

My 2001 CL has this problem too, and I pretty much cannot listen to any AM/FM station. Yes, the radio stations are not that great but I do like to listen to some top 40 stations and NPR from time to time.
Does anyone know where I can get instructions on how to pull the driver's side console out so I can check this wire that goes to the back of the head unit?

Here's a blow up of the center console. I believe there is a screw under the arm rest that'll free up the long slim trim piece(looks like a Nike swoosh) and the rest is clips. Then there are a few clips holding the side panel to the console.
