We have all seen them at one time or another under our cars. Yup, they are
those little aluminum TV dinner tray material shields that cover the exhaust piping
and the bottom of the cat. serving no purpose but to protect and transfer heat
off the pipes and the cat.
Welp the other day I was at a stop light with the windows down
next to this yuppy in a Saab 9000. He goosed his little 4- banger and ofcourse I
communicated back to him in the language of Acura CL-S-…gonna WALK your
ass in that Saab 9000!!!! As I snapped the pedal in response I heard some
pinging noise as it throttled down. I was so pissed!! I thought WTF is that
noise. Anyway I pulled hard at the green and dusted that POS Saab. I found
after jacking up the car that the cat shield was loose. I figure if it comes loose
again or any other of the shields…..It’s Gone!!!! I plan to mod the exhaust this
summer anyway. So if you hear those little metallic sounds, don’t freak
out, just check those POS shields!
