Undercoating / Rustproofing
Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone got undercoating/rustproofing done at zeibart. They say its supposed to cut down on wind noise, etc... too. Thnx - M |
Sounds like a scam to me. How would spraying rustproofing under a car cut down on windnoise? All they do is spray a solution under your car. If you spray paint the underbody of your car... will it run quieter? Well, OK.. it's thicker then paint... but it won't help that much.

it will dampen sound to some degree, i dont know how much sound eminates from under your car, tho

Undercoating is thick shiit...but the only real place it helps is in the wheel wells & you can do that yourself with a couple cans of the stuff.

Undercoating & Rust proofing are bad news and a waste of money.
Plus if they do it wrong and cover drainage holes, it can actually ACCELERATE rusting of the car. Paint is so CRAPPY these days that your car is more likely to chip & rust from the OUTSIDE-IN which isn’t covered. |
Cut down on wind noise? Its just a waste of money.

Undercoating is not bad for your car if you get it properly done, My car has been undercoated since 2002 and has been driven in many snows, It doesn't really cut down on Wind Noise but it does save you car from rusting. If you go to get your car undercoated, they have a diagram with all the drain wholes and sensitive parts to not spray. Also in your wheel wells its great all you have to do to get a great shine is spray some water in there and gently wipe it down. Many Daily Driven show cars opt to this to keep there car looking new. Its definetely not a waste of money and can increase the value of your car in the long run.
