i think they would have a hella joyous time doing that, instead of a hard time...think about it for min....from a thief's perspective

Uh, whenever you park your car in an area with meter maids....you can expect a fix-it ticket...not really anything big, just annoying. If a cop sees you with a covered VIN...he'll probably issue one to you too...and if he's a dick, it gives him probably cause to hold your vehicle and have it inspected by the auto theft division for stolen parts.

A compression kill switch is a different kind of kill switch.....its like removing your plugs. You'll hear a lot of starter noise, but no turn over.

They'll most likely take everything that isn't bolted down that isn't custom. Everything else will probably be burned or left in some ghetto ass area. Basically, Gavin could be the first Drag CL with a full body...but everything else is stripped off for him!!!!

Oh my god...so sorry to hear about your loss. I remember seeing pics of your car. It is certainly the only CL-S out there that looks like that so the thieves won't be able to just drive it around. I hope that the @ssholes that did it get caught and hung. Good luck.

I'm not sure how autotheft in Cali works, but if you talk to the right people you may be able to find out where your car went. Also, you had very specific parts. I'm pretty sure you don't valet your car, but that's the easiest way for a theif to get access to addresses and stuff. Sorry about the loss.

Well, with a car like Gavins...they probably stole it to strip it down for parts and stereo equipment...they looked at the kit and figured he had a lot of money in that car....what you are talking about is specific theft. I can understand those for exotics and high end cars....even for race cars...but Gavins is none of those.

I heard the immobilizer on our cars are not as great as people are often led to believe. One person posted on a thread on ATL about how to bypass the immbolizer to show how easy it is...and from what I heard before the thread was deleted...it wasn't many steps.

Damn this shit really sucks.

oonowindoo, my car is also parked in the school parking lot and most of the time i try to park where my car is surrounded by other vehicles so making it hard to tow. Was your car parked all by itself somewhere or was it surrounded by other vehicles. Also did you have any aftermarket alarm systems on it.

i dont know about you guys, but from now i am covering my VIN.

Holy shit man, i can't imagine how you feel. If i ever park in a spot at school that i don't normally use, and then forget about it as i walk out to the car and don't see my ride right away, i FREAK. Every single time. Course, I then remember that i'm someplace else, but still.. if it were ever gone... i'd contemplate suicide.

I really hope you get your car back. And i don't blame you for crying - when i think about the day i have to give up my car (a long way off, i hope) my eyes water. Seriously.

Edit: Question for you guys... how much of this would insurance pay for? The whole $30k+ whatever the mods are worth (if they honor the mods), or just the KBB + mods?

My condolences...

I know exactly how you feel. Growing up in Queens during the Dinkins years, my parents had 4 cars stolen, and I actually had my car stolen in front of my college house the first day of my senior year. Over the summer, I got a $1800 stereo, and before I could even show it off, the car was gone. Luckily, the car was found a week later with no damage and only missing the stereo and rims.

It sucks, but it's only a car

dang, just heard the bad news. sorry man. I think I'm gonna invest in some type of anti-theft device soon. I had my camaro towed long time ago and I was cryin'. I know the initial feeling..sucks. Hope you find it or insurance covers everything.

sorry to hear of your loss....
do u have any type of aftermarket alarm? cuz I seriously think I just tow your car to their garage and take their time to do their "disections"....and the stock alarm doesn't do squash since there is no shock sensor (did u install one? takes only 10 mins max and $15 for the sensor). If you did, the alarm (even if stock) would be triggered and you can stick your shot gun out of the window and start firing already...and if u have aftermarket alarm like compustar, it would paged you....
i park my car inside my garage and alarm with shot gun...only sure way

I feel so sorry for you man. I know the feeling of walking to you car and its not there. I've had a few bikes stolen from me. Hope you get your shit back. either physically or financially. I also think someone towed it away to a chop shop or something. You don't even have to get out of some tow trucks to take a car.

Flat bed tow truck and a chop shop.

Old fashioned way to steal MB. Porsches, BMW's and Jags. Tow company hooks up to the car, most people won't even question a tow truck driver, he pulls it onto a flat bed, then hauls your car away in about 15 minutes. Covers it up when he moves off the property, then tows the vehicle to wherever he wants. Ask your police to look into any recent theft rings which has this type of M.O. then be ready to jack that ass when they find him.

Sucks man, and I do hope you find your car. I know I'd hate being a pedestrian again.

You can actually claim your mods if you have a receipt for them. When my Audi S4 was totalled, I claimed 7000 in mods, and they repaid me in full.

I had my decked out 00 Si broken into last year, but the thiefs could not get it because of the following deterrents:

1. Alarm
2. Ignition kill
3. Starter kill
4. Fuel pump kill
5. Interior 124 db siren (hurts the ears badly)
6. Backup siren
7. Backup hidden battery
8. Clutch lock

They got to number 8 somehow, but could not get it.

However, if they want to tow it, they would have got it.

Sorry about the loss man!

so to start your car you had 4-5 different switches you had to flip???

I've never heard of a clutch lock...

I think you got towed but we will probably never know...
