Turbo 6spd - Driving Impressions
Before saying anything... I just need to vent "F*CK YEAH!!!!!"
I started out pretty easy on the car... not taking it past 5K RPMS and just loading the engine here and there to listen to detonation. I set the fuel pressure at a hefty 65psi (static) until I dyno it and can start leaning it out (just scared... that's all). The Comptech FPR increases is pretty linearly and maxes at maybe 90psi at 5psi of boost. I floored it today a few times and I must say... this thing ROCKS!
Engine Sound: A tad raspier, but very quiet (I don't have an exhaust yet)
General Driveability: The same when not flooring it... boost picks up very quickly, so the blow-off is always *swoooshing*
First Gear: Non-existent... spins from 3K to redline (I have no idea how I will ever get traction at the track!)
Second Gear: 2 of the 5 times the tears let loose at 5K (It pulls harder than my 1st gear used to while being NA)
Third Gear: The car just MOVES (85mph comes very quickly)
Fourth Gear: SCARY... you just gain on cars incredibly quick
It has full boost ANYTIME you floor it north of 2.5K... so the car just lurches and gets going.
I thought I heard some detonation while flooring in 4th (just at 5.5K, but it disappeared almost immediately... sort of like popcorn crackling - must be the 91 octane). I need to put some wrap on my intake pipe as it sits above the turbo and gets hot (probably negates the effect of the intercooler somewhat... like 25 degrees??).
Anyways... I will try to get it dynoed soon and will post the results.

Ah.... Let metell you this... Yesterday, I stopped by local speed shop... Guess for what reason... I was forced to be there to ask how much it would cost me to fab a custom intercooled turbo like yours... I could not resist...
Luckly, the shop was closed on Mondays... winter schedule....
But Ah.. It would be lovely to have a 300 WHP CLS 5AT...

Your new turbo engine sounds awesome...that must be such a cool feeling when it kicks in!! I also want to see your track times.
Is it still recommended on turbo cars to idle for at least 30 seconds (and longer if just finished driving hard) before turning off the engine? Something about letting excess oil drain from the turbo and cooling off?

allmotor_2000 i guess you have to change your name to allboost_2000
but seriously, what is the size of you downpipe? stock exhaust is get some 3''
drag radials should fix your problem, if not, slicks can be fit. i'm preety sure that you can swap the longer studs from the camaro Z-28 so you can fit the different slick+rim combo.

Revving at 9K...
Very nice!! The sound of Vtec with your turbo must be the nicest ever!!
btw, I know that new tires or exhaust is important, but don't forget about getting a turbo timer either!

It's good practice to let the car idle for about 2 minutes after parking it... even more if you have driven hard. It's to let the oil circulate through the turbo and cool it down a bit - you don't want it to seize!! Usually folks go for a turbo-timer to help out with this cause
On slicks - I doubt I will go this route as my clutch will go to the shits. I strongly doubt the Nitto's will help as they didn't help me too much NA! If I can get a 13.3 or better with the current setup, I am very sure it will hit 12.9's or better with proper slicks.

ITS ALIVE, ITS ALIVE!!!!!@!!@ <---- hideous laughter
seriously wrap your pipes up nice, grab the camera, head to the track or your local dyno
I'm sure if your strapped for cash from the project we could chip in on a dyno!!
MORE PICS!@! btw: those intercooler pics were too dark to really do it justice of what it looks like in person

There are two little things I need to fix before:
(1) Wastegate boost sense point... need to move it near the throttle-body
(2) Small oil-leak near sending unit. It's so tight in there.. I couldn't really torque it down... hence I have to take a few things off (probably the passenger-side axle) to get to it. It not llosing oil-pressure by any means... just little drip-drip - which is bad!
