Is it just me or does "Side Impact Beams" removal sound a little ridiculous? Air Conditioning is one thing, but safety features? Hmmmmm, No. I wonder how your Ins. company would react if you got broadsided and your family sued over your death?

the tar is a good weight saver. My buddy has a 92 hatch back that we have all stripped. I MEAN COMPLETELY, all it is is a frame. We have it upside down removing all the tar all over it and grinding the sheet metal down a lil more. I forgot what the original weight was but it think we saved about 100-200 lbs. We'll weigh it soon.

OK, time to get silly.
Just get a big 1/2" drill or get something even bigger.
After removing all the undercoat, carpets, seats, and other non-essentials, get the drill plugged in and ready to go.
Now start drilling holes where ever you can. Pretty soon the car wont handle (there will be a ton of body flex), but you will have carved up a bunch of weight. Then you can get some acid etching done to lighten whatever some more until you have just enough strength to keep the frame together. Now your ready for the 1/4 mile.
(just some satire...)
