Tree branch fell onto my car - - - - INSIDE MY GARAGE !!!!!
It was windy last night and my wife woke me up about 3AM when she said she heard a CRASH outside that sounded like a tree falling.
I got up and grabbed a spotlight to look around the yard, but saw nothing so I went back to bed.
After getting up this morning as I’m walking down to get the morning paper I’m checking out the front yard a little better in the daylight.
I glance over to my detached garage and see a 20FT long piece of branch sticking out from the roof directly above my car.
I’m thinking the worst as I look through the window and see wood fragments all over my car.
I opened up the door and saw the branch along with three others had fallen down and pierced through the metal roof of the garage.
Miraculously the only damage seems to be a slight dent in the passenger’s door where the larger piece just grazed the lower part of the door.
Another piece bounced off the rear window, but it isn’t cracked.
The branch was headed straight for the car, but got wedged in the roof and stuck there.
The largest piece was about 6” in diameter and would have done serious damage to the car.
I will need to wash it up and look it over in the sunlight, but I think I got off quite lucky.

GOD SHINED DOWN AND REALIZED THAT YOUR RED CLS WAS OUTSHINING HIM.
HE HAD TO DO SOMETHING.
Sorry to hear about the branch and hope you can still come to the meet if we have it on the 20th.

Last night was weird!
I came home late amd parked in my Driveway (instead of in the garage). It was raining and windy so leafs and little cherries got blown off the tree and "baked" onto my paint this morning. I had to rush to the car wash amd after 4 washesm some of these cherries are still stuck to my paint..
I'm gonna have to handwash tonight.

Ouch! Kinda adds a whole new dimension to the expression "garage kept", eh? Actually, you're fortunate to have a garage. Many of us pissants take our chances out in the driveway mano a mano with Mother Nature. BTW, nice job on the pix. Speedy recovery, bro.

I think this should all be covered under my HOME insurance.
I called today and the adjuster is coming out tomorrow or Tuesday.
The reason the roof was so easily “pierced” is that the building is a post & frame construction with a thin METAL skin over the outside.
The salesman ASSURED me that it would be strong enough to protect against falling branches, but this is the SECOND time he has been proven wrong in only two years since the garage was built.
The price was right at the time (11,000-dollars) but I think I am going to have the building modified next year to have a normal roof put on.
Something with Plywood & shingles instead of tin foil.
I washed the car today and the only damage I see is a small dent that is about 1” long at the bottom of the passenger’s door.
Kind of like a bad door ding, the paint isn’t scratched.
I probably won’t get it fixed unless it looks worse in the natural sunlight.
The person who wins in it the RAFFLE will just have to deal with it when I buy my SIX SPEED next year.
Here are (2) pictures from when the building was going up in 99.
You can see in the photo all the 100FT PLUS tall trees that surround the building and the thin metal skin that the roof is made of.
