is the Trade-in worth it?
Good Morning all!!!!!
I currently have a 2001 Aeg. w/ 27k miles.
Would it be worth it to trade it in for a 2003?
I'm starting to get all those damn noises and rattles and that funky humming/whinning noise when i press on the gas (folks with transmission probs tell me thats the sign), and I would rather perhaps trade it in for a brand new one.
Any thoughts?
I know I'll take a little hit, but if not too bad, well, not sure...need help guys

Wrote Honda to say thanks for supporting me after buying their premier coupe in their flashy, in-all-the-mags color. and how about taking $3k off my lease buyout price?? No word back yet
hehehehe.

Re: is the Trade-in worth it?
Whining noise with the transmission? Are you sure it's not just some kind of alternator whine? Does the noise go up and down based on your RPM's? I've never heard of whining noises being a sign of transmission problems.

Back last spring when I considered trading my '01 Sundance Gold CL-S in for an //M Roadster the BMW dealer would give me only $18K while I had only about 24k miles. They said they would have given me about $21k had the color been different.
But then a few months later I went and drove a 6-Speed and decided I had to have it. They offered me $21.5k for my metallic pumpkin which surprised me. Turns out the used car manager was on vacation at the time and was floored when he returned to find another Gold CL-S on the used car lot. But it worked for me at the time and I got into a better deal than before.
But if you aren't looking to move to the 6-Speed, don't waste your time.

There were not enough differences with the '01 and '03 to warrant the amount of a hit in just getting the newer car. To some the 6-Speed was not even enough but to me that was the only reason. But to go from an '01 auto to an '03 auto does not have enought justification IMO.

I'm not totally sure..but hard to believe that when the tech sat in the car with me..he said...'since this is a high strung car, it makes those noise.......'
IMO, i thought that was a little BS

You better make that trade tommorow 'cause I had those simptoms for the first time last Wednesday and come this Monday my tranny pukes and me and the little woman limp home at 10mph and have to get out and push it up over the curb onto our driveway. What a pain in the @#$%. Also the dealer tried to give me a Ford Focus to drive while the CL-S is getting it's "new" REBUILT transmission. I said "Hey, I bought a premium brand car in the Acura and I expect to be driving a premium brand car while it is getting fixed" When I go to pick up the rental, they had a 2002 Lincoln LS waiting for me. At $38,000 it's priced like a premium car but I think the Focus may have been more fun to drive. Lots of bells and whistles on this pig but no seat of the pants excitement. Oh well, the transmission works......
