Well, i'm kinda in the mood for a sport sedan now... and honestly, the CL-P is getting kinda boring now... especially since everyone here owns a Type-S...

I figure, the sooner, the better cuz if i keep waiting, mileage will only add up, degrading my resale value of the car... I'm sure that if i give my car to Acura, they'll give me really good resale on the car, so trading it in for a TL-S would be a good idea...

But should I trade it in for the TL-S this spring, or should I just wait longer (like say, a year or so) and get a 6-speed 540i? gosh, I love that car, but its too pricey... gonna have to wait a while...

so anyway, I saw the TL-S at the Auto show... VERY nice!!! the person there said it MIGHT retail for 34,000 (type-S model w/ Navi)...

what should i do???

Satin01CL will be crushed that he's losing a CL-P brother!! I think you'll be taking quite a hit trading in, even to Acura. Granted, you'll probably get a little more from Acura than you would from another manufacturer, but it's still not gonna be pretty!

And get the TL-S.... 540i's are nice and all... but the overall cost of ownership... OUCH!

You would take a bit hit. And since you are talking about how much you may lose now, you would regret it.

I would map out a 2 year plan. Estimate how much your CL-P would be worth in 2 years, estimate how much the car you REALLY want would cost. Then setup a two year savings plan.

You will get to enjoy your great CL-P in the meantime, will be saving for what you really want, and not be worrying about losing money. In 2 years you may also get a good deal on a used 540i coming off a lease from an 80 year old guy

What do you mean, they'd give you a fair deal on a trade in?! They'd make you take a bath on trading that thing in. I say hold onto it for a couple of years, then get an M3, or 540i.

If you trade it in now they aren't gonna give you anything NEAR what you'd want for it. You'd be much better off selling it privately.

Here's an idea...
If you want to trade in your car, the dealer will most likely give you abour $1K-$2K less than what your car is really worth. So if you still want to trade it in, this might be a plan for you that I also used. Tell them that you will trade it in as long as they'll wave all the inception fees and down payment. When I traded in my 2000 Max SE, it was worth about $21,500. The Acura dealer gave me $20K, and wave all the inception fees on my lease, which totaled up to around $1500. They also through in the wheel locks, spoiler, and gold trim. So after all that I am now paying $416/mth for my lease of the 01 CLS. All I payed at inception was $250. I didn't think this was a bad idea since I was planning to lease the CLS. Tell me what you think...
