Traction devices?

Would like to know if anyone has opinions and/or experience in using either the "Go Claw" or "spider claw" traction device.

Either type is supposedly recommended for tires with minimal wheel well clearance. I'm interested in which one works best in snow and Ice.

Got pics or links?

A set of good snow tires should be all you need to get through the winter.

This actually isnt for me. I have a friend with a Volkswagon Eurovan and he needs to purchase chains to travel over the pass (chains required), His dealer told him tire clearance will be an issue with most chains.

I told him i would post a thread here since we are likely to have the same clearance issues with lowered cars and such. At any rate, the two devices mentioned above should do the trick but they are $300 different in price. I was just curious if anyone has any experience with either brand and has an opinion one way or the other.
