Cool Video, but the announcer is ignorant. He doesn't really know much about cars if he thinks that American vehicles go fast in a straight line, like the "vette and space shuttle". Guess he has never driven a Z06.

wow i can find that engine in the f150!!
It's not really based on the F150 at all...
The only thing they share is the engine block.
cams, lifters, crank, rods, bearings, pistons, heads, valves, timing chain.......yadda... yadda... are all different. Not to mention balanced together...
picture the F150 5.4L as stress test for the engine block.
Why should ford design a new engine block, when they can use one that has already been well tested?
The GT engine is hand machined, and hand assembeled...

Is the Viper crap because it's engine traces back to a Dodge?pickup?

So much hate and mis-understanding...
If others actually read about the past, and how the US was ridiculed for not being able to create a car to compete with the europeans in their races. The euorpeans literally laughed in our faces with a snotty attitude.
Then Ford goes and does it. Shows them up, multiple times. Then says, eh I'm bored with your races...
The car was made when Ford was unable to purchase Ferrari when they tried, and they were HIGHLY ridiculed... So Ford answered back.
Where's the patriotism on this board...!?!?!????
That car is the symbol of how the Americans still can and have produced cars to complete.
I'm pretty let down from some of the bashing of it... not liking it is one thing. But why disrespect the honor the car holds?

Who cares if it's not a 100% unique and exclusive design like the Ferrari? It makes 2x more torque and over 100 more hp, and sounds great to boot, and allows the car to be less expensive than the Ferrari.
Is the Viper crap because it's engine traces back to a Dodge?pickup?

If you don't care that's fine.....i'm stating my opinion. Why must you jump to the defense every single time ?
If i'm paying over 140K....i want exclusivity.....it's much more than a car..... The price of the car is going to be closer to the 150k mark.
car does sound great, handling seems ok by the reviews, props for ford to put the engine in the back.....where it belongs.
If you want value buy a focus......

Patriotism shouldn't be equated to love and support for a freaking car........
kudos for finally making a true sports car. What's with the all or nothing BS? Gotta love it or gotta hate it?

The CLS is value as compared to the 330Ci, etc. If the CLS were offering better performance than the 330Ci in all respects for basicaly the same price, then that's not value. That's: I BEAT YOUR ASS STRAIGHT AND SQUARE.
And that's what the GT is. A Ferrari Modena straight and square ass beater.

Ford made a car to quiet the europeans when they ridiculed the US for not being able to compete in the european races (Im not going to get specific)
The US (Ford specifically) came back and showed them up. It's very patriotic, and is a symbol of what the US is capable of. The races are biased to different countrys. It's very competitive.
They were laughing at us, Ford stood up and showed them what we could do...
For me, it says a lot about what we are capable of. It takes balls to stand up to the Italian cars. It takes better design to beat them, which Ford did... and they did it very well.

The Europeans are ridiculing USAmerican automotive reality to this day. Race related or commercial, for that matter. They laugh at the cars we drive every day, the cars that the big 3 sell to us and about the rediculous oval racing (e.g. NASCAR, etc). Not even the C5 gets respect over there.
Additional perspective to spice it up even more:
Europeans perceive OPEL (GM's European subsidiary except Vauxhall) as...GERMAN! Yes German.
Vauxhall (which is GM's subsidiary for the UK market) is perceived as English.
Ford, is also perceived as a GERMAN company. Yes.
Volvo is perceived as Swedish and Saab too. Aston Martin as English, etc, etc.
It's pathetic what Europeans think about Detroit.
