Hope you get better, Todd. Maybe you should rest in the cabin, it's more relaxing.

It's hard to tell...I can't see the right side...
Questions:
Was the car able to be taken out of gear? Do the doors open? See any center console damage/twisting?
Honestly, right off, assuming you have both airbags causing some interior damages...The car looks repairable...I hate to say that...
Appears to have about $11-13k in damages...Normally, you need it to be structurally not repairable or suffer at least 75% of the car's value in damages...Sometimes companies like Progressive or State Farm will sway for the 75% figure to "control" the situation--menaing, keeping you happy. You should let both your insurer and his look at the car and make separate determinations...

Damn man, that CL looks like it took a major beating! Hope that you are doing ok! I would say that the car is totaled, because the front end of the car looks bent to the right and i would that it would be expensive to repair. Take it easy bro.

Aw man... It looks horrible, but I don't know if that'll be considered "totaled"... But I'm not a claims adjuster, so I don't know.

sorry about the late reply, but I'm sorry this happened to you, but at least you are safe and a car can always be replaced (it was being replaced anyway though.

I don't think it would be totaled but you never know

I was going 30 when he pulled out in front of me, as soon as I slammed the brakes, we hit...so maybe like 28 mph?

Hey Todd, sorry to hear about that shit happening. I hope everything works out for you and let us know if you need anything (the local guys). Glad you're OK.

Much props to you Pete for helping Todd out!

I think they'll total it, especially if the engine fell out! front looks like ass!

What happened to your rims and mesh grille? Were those taken out in anticipation of the G35C trade? Anyhoo, as bad as that looks I don't think they will total it. Which sucks because they probably should with a hit like that. One of the guys over on A-TL.com hit a parked car at about 50 mph (stalled on the highway) with the front and it looked far worse than that and it wasn't totalled. Good luck with it.

And you better show up to the next meet with the pimped out G35!!

The mesh (or as I call it now, mush) grille is there...look hard for it. The rims I sold to lou, thank god they weren't on it. As far as the car, it's valued at right around 18K, the airbags alone are 3K per side, the interior of the car has airbag shit all over it now, the engine dropped about 3 inches, there was fluid all over the place under the car, the panels are buckled all the way back to the doors. I was told the car will be totalled if the damage is 75% of the car's value (which is probably a low number anyway going by what they use to value it in the first place). I will not take this car back...no way, no how.

hmmm...I thought it was more like 50% of the market value of the car. I guess it depends on the insurance company...

I've heard people tell me 50%, 70%, 75%, 80%...I guess I just have to wait for the adjuster to know for sure. I've got my fingers crossed.

Good luck dude, feel better as well, and tylenol 3 is very good for pain relief, but it makes u very sleepy. you probally want that anyway. Dont even let them put that car back together, i had a front engine crsh with my maxima i had before i had my cl-s and it was never the same. If they put it back together, it will take months as well. THen you will be in your G35 anyway. good luck

Did you get estimates on your car before your wreck since you were going to sell it? If the insurance company doesn't want to total the car, tell them you want a check to cover loss of value on the car. Show them the estimate before the wreck and tell them you expect them to make up the difference between that and whatever amount you can get for a wrecked car. (prob. 2-4k less) When this has happened to us before, we got letters from Acura dealers saying the car would be worth XXX dollars less after the wreck. If you let them know you will try to collect for loss of value early in the process, it will probably increase the chances they total the car.

I deal with this bs all the time for my clients. First: call your insurance company and tell them you want a no fault (PIP) application sent to you (gotta do this w/in 30 days or claim is denied; Second: do not talk to his ins company AT ALL; Third: call a chiro, or a massage therapist-both are available to you under no fault cvg (as are any doctors you wish to see); Fourth: get well soon!
