Tire rotation question

Had my stock tires on my 03 CL-S rotated a while back (7500 service) and the tech told me they rotate (front to back and back to front). I've always followed the the crisscross pattern. Have tires changed so much they don't require the old pattern?

I guess so.

I was always told to do front to back and vice versa.

Most tires these days have directional tread. Look on your tires and somewhere it will probably say "ROTATION ---->" Thats why your not supposed to do crisscross.

Well, most of the new tire designs have a directional tire pattern. So if you swap side to side, they are going "the wrong way"..

The stock all season tires should be non directional, and therefore should be rotated as in the owners or service manuals: Front to back on the same side, and back to front on the opposite side. I don't know of any all season directional tires, but then again, I am ignorant to many things.

I have always rotated front to back, even with regular all seasons. I have always gotten better wear.

I know the OEM tires on the 03 CL-S are directional. The dealer told me as I questioned him why he rotated front to back (straight pattern).

I’m still looking for the marking on my SUV tires. I can’t seem to find the marking that tell me.
