Tire help please
Hi All,
I have 01 CL type S, and I will have to replace stock Michelins.
I really want S-03 or Conti Sport Contact II, but size is a problem.
What size I can go with stock rims?
225 vs 235 any problem running 235?
Thanks

Search and you'll find lots of info on tire sizes on stock rims....
I'm running some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my stock OEM rims with a CT drop, in a 235.45.17 with no problems, no rubbing at all.
Go with the 235/45/17 if you are on stock springs or have a CT drop-

S03's are great but won't last very long. You may want to check out the Firehawk SZ50 which is basically a rebadged S02.

You might be able to get some of the wider tires on the stock 7” rim, but you can run into problems *and* actually end up with a smaller contact patch on the road.

Don't worry
I had the same concern (I have the same car, year). I went with yohohama es100 (235/45/17). You'll like the wider tire. I too was looking at SO3's ($800+ vs $550 for yokos). Car handles way better and you can take your car to the car wash without scratching the hell out of your rims. I would probably go with SOS as bridgestone makes the best tire. 35-36PSI should do the trick too. Good luck.

whatever you decide do not go with the cheapest thing you can find. I bought some 19 inch rims for my CL-S and some tires... I think they say Wanli on the side or something like that. Every time I take off in the rain or go around a curve too fast it slides bad!! The yellow light on the tach stays lit up.
