tips for lowering my 60'

I've got yokohama avid v4s's and I normally ride all for at 38psi. At the track, should I let some air out?

do you spin the tires or get wheelhop? if youa re running at 38 psi that's a bit too high for hte fronts. try dropping down to like 32 psi which is i think the reccomended pressure.

also, something I forgot to note, don't go too low of a tire pressure or you'll kill your top end. you'll be getting "too much" traction, and it'll slow you down. just try some different settings. Start out with you're 38 psi, then drain out a few psi from teh front tires every time (bring a gauge with you to the track).

also, you'll want the rear tires to have as much pressure in them as you can safely have (38 is fine), and just leave them as is.

well, one of my problems is that, I don't evenknow the recommended tire pressure for yokohama avid v4s's. just for regular driving. I have them all set to 38 psi.

when i had my civic, i lowered my front tires from 34psi to 22psi for a better grip at the drag track (my friend with 400whp civic put his slicks to 18 or 16 psi i think)

i'd suggest you try lowering it (like 26~28) and put them back to 38 as soon as you get out of there.

To lower 60' time: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: Arrive at track early and ice intake down. Take off the plastic cover first. Hopefully you have removed all weight from the car you can, i.e. jack, spare, system, golf clubs, whatever AND you should have 1/8th of a tank of gas. That gas should be 91 or 93 octane, whatever. Lower front tire pressure to 25lbs. When ready pull up to the lane and try to avoid the water trap. If you cannot do a burn out to dry off the front tires. Pull up slowly and break the first beam (one yellow comes on) and then INCH up to illuminate the second yellow. The instant it comes on, stop. BTW the climate control system should be OFF and the radio etc. Now with TWO feet on the pedals and the engine at idle (trust me here) wait for the lights to come down and when the last bulb before green illuminates, do left foot up and right foot down fully taking about 1/2 of a second. Do not smash it down. Steer straight ahead, and hopefully you have done a small burnout or some sort of chirp with the fronts. This launch should give you a good 60'.
For years I have examined time slips and it seems launches from idle do aliitle better than break torque launches.

Sorry to be long but I like my fellow CL/tl ers to do well at the track!
